Parents! Brag About Your Children

^ Yeah, seriously.

And yep, Seeker's baby is just too fricken cute for words. His and Kelso's. I want them both! (Until they hit their teens. Then they can have 'em back.)

I love all the pics, guys. I miss my kids being babies, well, some of the time. ;) Moving out of the small fry stages has its advantages, too.

My daughter is 12 now. (For perspective, she was 3 when I joined TBBS.) She's in middle school and loving it. She's on the accelerated math track, so she's taking Algebra this year. Saturday, she earned a 1st division for her flute solo and was told by the judge that she was very talented, one of the best she's ever heard. My daughter is just sweet, too. She wants to be everyone's friend. She doesn't have any interest in cliques, exclusivity, or meanness. Boy, I hope that lasts.

My son is 7. He is living proof that God has a sense of humor. I continue to learn so much about boys, the world, and myself every day because of this child. He is a natural engineer. If it was put together, surely it must come apart. He can build for hours with Legos, blocks, Lincoln Logs, train tracks, Tinker Toys, whatever. He has a temper, and we are working on developing patience with himself and with others. It's a work in progress that sometimes leaves me very tired, but I know that it will be worth it in the long run. But he also has a kind heart. Today, one of the 1st graders was hit in the back with a large snowball. She was crying, so he brought her over to her mom.

My kids. Both are blessings to me, and I am grateful every day that they are in my life.

At first, I was a little concerned about posting a picture of my kids due to safety reasons, but I figure, it's probably not a big deal, really. So here's a photo of my daughter when she was just a beautiful baby.

^ Please tell me her name is Zira. ;)

Seriously, all of the kids posted in this thread are cute! I'm thankful for that... I'm terrible at lying about baby cuteness!

Tonight I told my daughter that our new pirate puzzle is "a piece of cake" and received a ten minute lecture on the differences between people (which a pirate is) and desserts (which a cake is). :)

Not at all! You can't really tell from my avatar picture because it's so small, but I'm really ugly as fuck!

Randi, keep those ulcer tablets handy! I'm not worried about my daughter learning to drive and I don't know of my youngest will ever be able to, but the thought of my older son driving worries the hell out of me. He's such a space cadet that I can't see him being able to stay focused long enough not to crash into something. I'm probably making a mountain out of a molehill but this is the child whose nickname was Head Wound Boy during his toddler and early school years.

I was reading ADDitude magazine this morning (I can recommend it for anyone coping with ADHD or living with someone with ADHD - it's full of useful advice and information) and the letter from the editor is called "In Praise of Imperfection" and is about allowing all parents to brag about their kids, even though they might not be honour students.

I loved this example of how it can be difficult to brag when your child has a disability of some sort

"Example: You're at the drive-thru at Burger King and the waitress asks, "May I take your order?" You say, "I'll have a Whopper. And speaking of Whoppers, my autistic kid just told his first lie."

I love this thread and all the different things our children do :techman:

My four-year-old niece just spent the afternoon autographing her Valentines. Nineteen student cards and four teacher cards. ^^

young master trampledamage had his 4-year vaccinations this afternoon. Now, he's not a boy that likes to be made to do things he doesn't like, and he's not a boy who likes being held tightly. So, needless to say, I wasn't expecting things to go well.

First of all, he runs into the room happily when called, he didn't fuss when the nurse took his arm out of his shirt, and he didn't mind me holding him tight. Then it came to the injection and he flinched a bit but then held himself carefully still, and as the needle went in I heard a soft "ow ow ow" but then...

nothing. He didn't cry, he didn't scream - he just jumped up and pulled his sweater back on. He didn't even want a band-aid!

I was flabbergasted :)

That boy, he never does what I expect

That's awesome trampledamage!

We'll be taking our daughter in for he one year vaccinations in a few weeks and I'm usually the one who holds her tight. Not fun. At least she gets over it very quickly.

Ok, not really something to be brag about but it's kind of funny.

My daughter likes playing with our cordless phone and she has now punched in the number 666 on the screen twice! Should I be worried?
