I still put this in a big "IF" category.IF this is really happening (and I refuse to get excited just yet) I'd hope that almost everything stays approximately the same.

@Dukhat: Did the museum version of the Defiant-A have a NX or NCC prefix?
That'd be a non-starter regardless. When the Sao Paulo/Defiant A first shows up at the station, Ezri comments "I didn't know we were getting another Defiant class ship." So on screen dialogue pretty much prevents any new design being used there.Heck, I would have liked to have a completely new design for the Defiant-A, but unfortunately that ship sailed when they showed it in the Starfleet Museum in PIC.

As for the registry, even the novels have kept the "NX-74205" registry for the other Defiant, and when asked about it in our own Trek Lit forum, authors and editors of the novels said they did so under instructions from Paramount/CBS who told them "that is the ship's registry." If that's the studio's official stance on the matter regarding the ship's depiction in a text medium where we can't even see it, it stands to reason the studio is likely going to insist any remaster of the show also adheres to it.
Besides, TOSR didn't change "James R Kirk."
HD did wonders for Data in drag.
Just addressing your earlier post re: derisive comments. Why? It's not disrespectful towards anyone involved in the production of the show. The fact is, if you have a modern screen north of 50", you're going to have pretty crappy image when viewing DS9 in its SDR format.
When we purchased our first 4K HDR screen a couple of years back, I watched Lord of the Rings and a couple of X-Men movies in 4K / HDR - it was stunning. On a whim, I decided to see what the glorious CGI mayhem of Sacrifice of Angels would look like. It was a rude surprise to see how poor the quality of the episode was on my fancy new TV.
During TNG it was an unwritten rule in the writers room that only the Enterprise-D was allowed to have a letter. One or two ships slipped through the cracks, but that was because of the writer not knowing about it.It's just a change in Starfleet policy from what was done with various Enterprises.
Yup.I was watching DS9 on Paramount+ via my Roku on a 4k TV, it looks fine.
Does it look as good as TNG in HD? No, but I don't think it looked 'crappy'. It just is what it is.
Yes, it is what it is...a standard def transfer from a tape master three decades old. The transfers weren't particularly great for then, let alone now. They made them no better than was strictly needed at the time.It just is what it is.
