Parallels

Haha, your AV cracks me up! What a weird collection of imagery in "Phantasms" eh? :guffaw:

Thanks, yeah, "Phantasms" as well as "Parallels" are on my personal A-list of episdoes. Also "The Pegasus"...episodes with the letter P seem to do well by me..."Phantasms" I hadn't ever seen till recently so it was a special treat...a cellular peptide cake...with mint frosting :bolian:

That
and Frame of Mind

There were some missed opportunties in the episode (only so much they could do).

A reality where Troi is chief of security.

One where Crusher and Picard are married.

One where Data is "black" (played by a different actor, but with no real explination)

Dr. Pulaski is still medical officer (yeah, like they'd have gotten the actress back)

Tasha Yar still alive...again.

Everyone wears Klingon uniforms and the ship is green.

Where everyone is a Borg.

Where the parasites in CONSPIRACY won.

Where everyone is an android, except Data.

Actually, Tasha Yar was considered for Worf's last stop, but the writer's included Wesley (Dumb move), because they were afraid it would be too derrivitive of "Yesterday's Enterprise".

Sounds to me like they thought we viewers were too stupid to tell the difference.

As for the Pulaski thing: HELL NO!!!!

Unless they killed her. I would love that.

Hmmm...I just might be willing to bring Pulaski back, but I don't know anyone who'd be willing to help me out with a photo manipulation as an illustration for the story document itself.

Imagine Pulaski in a 2379 (red or blue) First Contact Starfleet uniform with either Commander's or Captain's pips against a Sovereign-Class bridge background, as the C.O. of the Legacy-Class U.S.S. Mandela?

I could kill her off right away or have her be 'assimilated' by the Bluegills from "Conspiracy"; or, first have her be 'assimilated' by the Bluegills & then killed, if you want.

Anyone willing to read that in "Star Trek: Mandela" if I re-write the story that way?

They couldn't do everything!!! I think they jammed plenty into the episode to make it fun, without overdoing it.

The alternate persona I most liked, aside from Worf being first officer, was Nurse Ogawa becoming Dr. Ogawa and chief medical officer. In fact, it would have been more fun if Patti Yasutake's character had changed roles almost as much as Worf, like being the security chief in some of the other realities, or helm officer, instead of bringing back Wil Wheaton. -- RR

Aside from the issue of whether or not he should have been there, does anyone have any speculation on how Wes was aboard the Enterprise as a full officer at that time? Maybe he ratted Locarno out before the stunt, or the Borg attack so decimated the Fleet they needed officers, or...well, I know how people feel about the character, but I'd like some serious responses.

He could have went to the Academy in the first season(if only we were that lucky) or went with Beverly when she went to Starfleet Medical and went to the academy. So he could have been an officer at the time of the episode. But why would he have been security chief? :wtf:

Yeah, that never made sense to me, either, Wes seemingly being security chief. Unless he wasn't security chief and just a tactical officer. I seem to recall that the posts weren't always shared by one person, like on Picard's Stargazer. It's possible, given it was a separate quantum universe!

That's why it would have been cool to see one person switching roles even more often than Worf. I like Patti Yasutake, who played Nurse Ogawa, so imagine if her role on the ship kept changing along with Worf's, from nurse, to CMO, as we saw in one universe, to security chief, even to counselor in a universe, just to shake things up even more.

Or better yet, since Worf and Troi were the focus of the ep and Marina Sirtis was a series regular, imagine if Troi's role kept changing, from counselor, to CMO, to security chief. Maybe even in the last reality Worf bounces into, he would be counselor and Troi would be first officer!

It is indeed the novel with three Tracks, one of which has Jack Crusher as Enterprise's captain, and some lovely chaos near the end.

I loved the whole revelation about Captain Jack Crusher in that novel, or about Jack Crusher in general.

That's the only part of the novel I *didn't* like:
An infinite number of universes, and there's only ONE where Jack survives? Horse-hockey, as Sherman Potter would say. Trelane was just bulllshitting when he said that.

On the other hand, not having Tasha in Parallels probably meant that her appearance in All Good Things... would be more meaningful.

(Yes, I admit, I cheered when I saw her on the screen in the finale.)

Or even better... for humourous values..

Where Data is a Klingon Android.

Where whenever Wesley speaks he gets punched in the lip by Worf.

Where all Ferengi space ships are suped up and they are the self proclaimed "Gangstaz" of the universe.

Where those Andorian antenae actually protrude from where their nipples should be.

Anybody else wanna add to the list?
