Not sure if this has been brought up yet or not but I think its worth considering the similarities between the launch of Star Trek: The Motion Picture with Trek XI.
If you watch the Motion Picture Teaser its interesting how initially it concentrates on fleeting images of the "Updated" Enterprise much like what we are seeing in the new trailer.
What most of us are feeling now must be similar to what fans felt back then when they were introduced to a Big Budget equivalent of the 1701 from the tv show. Now it is happening all over again and this time we are getting an even bigger budget 1701. The problem is the bigger the budget, the further away from the original design it gets.
Its also worth mentioning the crew changes that roddenberry introduced in TMP, Stephen Collins, Persis Khambatta and it makes me wonder what is really in store for us when the actual trailer comes out.
Hope I'm not rambling here, what do you all think?
