Paradox BBC One

Bob The Skutter

Complete Arse Cleft
In Memoriam
Mysterious images that show incidents 18 hours before they happen are transmitted from space. As a space scientist attempts to explain their source, detectives race against time to change the future.

Just a heads up for anyone who's interested. The BBCs new Sci-fi/crime drama Paradox starts tonight at 9pm on BBC One and HD. Hopefully it'll be a little more interesting than it sounds.

^Yeah, even the press release about the character calls him a space scientist. Makes me think the writers have no clue already. But I'm trying not to pre-judge the show.

Watched it - I agree it is unlikely to be close to Life On Mars, but it was interesting. It built up some tension and there were some good performances. Don't see why the scientist wasn't arrested right at the start though.

I'll definitely try to remember to see the next episode.

it is good & at times engaging but very by the numbers, I do think the blonde cop did come to believe to quickly.

this series is only 5 episodes, so I think ill commit, to at least the first series

Mixed feelings. I think it's a show that thinks its cleverer than it actually is, and it didn't seem comfortble in its own skin, for wont of a better term, trying too hard to be serious, and seemed to throw us too quickly into the action. Never been a fan of Tamsin Othwaite and wasn't keen on her ex, but the other copper was interesting, as was slightly derranged scientist.

The investigation was quite by the numbers and it was pretty obvious what was going to happen.

On the upside the last the minutes was a bit shocking. I'd expected them to stop what was going to happen so I give the show kudos for that.

Although why she stopped the car and ran rather than driving at the tanker flashing her lights and sounding her horn is a bit of a mystery.

Still it was only evil Jeff from Peep Show so he was asking for it...

I liked it well enough to watch all 5 episodes, so long as there's no big dip in quality. I agree with what's been said here though, it's a bit by the numbers with the investigation and doesn't seem to quite like comfortable in it's handling of the SF aspect of the plot.
But it did have the balls to let the accident happen, and not let it quite be a win for them, and there were some quite engaging parts.

Yeah it just felt a bit self concious (and reading Othwaite's embarassing comments that it wasn't science fiction really didn't help) I'm with you though, assuming it doesn't tail off I can bring myself to watch 4 more episodes!

I hate it when they seems like embarrassed by being sci-fi, or even unaware of just how broad a genre sci-fi can be.

It was enjoyable enough. I'll probably keep tuning in.

The actual science lab (external view) appears to be the war museum in Trafford Park and I think I used to take my mate for his driving lessons under that bridge a few years back:)

Yeah I recognised the building. Love that it's by BBC Northern Ireland and set in Manchester.
