"Oz: The Great and Powerful" Teaser poster

You also have to remember it was a Sci-Fi (SyFy) presentation ;). They even managed to make Bruce Campbell less interesting than normal in the 2 movies he did for them.

Worse than that, it's a Robert Halmi/RHI production. I mean, take at look at this: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0356849/. Ever see so many bland movies? (yeah, Farscape's an anomaly but look at the bulk of em)

The unrivaled KING of the TV movie. I guess quantity isn't always better than quality, like I've been told :guffaw:

At any rate, love the poster, and wish they'd remake "The Wizard Of Oz" without the songs, but with today's FX. Yeah, I enjoy the '39 version well enough, but alot of the magic of that version wore off when I grew up and could watch it any time I wanted.

I feel it'll just be like the remade Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Even if it isn't a bad film, it won't be memorable.

And here's the trailer:

Looks interesting, though a bit "Alice In Wonderland" like.

I don't know why but for some reason the '39 Oz film riff at the beginning didn't sit right with me. Maybe it's just going from that to Wonderland that made it all the more jarring.

I guess I was hoping for an Oz that looked a little bit different than a baby on a Crayola diet's diaper. :barf:

Was that just for the trailer, or will the film actually have the '39 colour transition too?

i thought it looked awesome. i does have that Alice in Wonderland vibe to it though.

Intriguing first trailer, but I think I'll need to see a little more before I can decide what to think.

I enjoyed the trailer. Maybe it's all the time I spent curating a collection of 1st edition (signed by L. Frank Baum) copies of the Oz books (and original artwork by John R. Neill and W.W. Denslow), but I have to say, I'm very interested in seeing this film's take on the mythos.

Oz prequel with Rachel Weisz and Mila Kunis....

I'm game!

Good trailer! I hope this is better than Alice In Wonderland.

That actually looks pretty cool. Great cast. I love that they filmed the Kansas stuff in 1.33:1, though it looks like they just desaturated the picture rather than actually filming it in black white.

I can see this doing pretty good box office. March releases have been doing really well recently.

Great trailer with some beautiful imagery. Kunis and Weisz are good actors, but Franco is as dull as watching paint dry. It looks like there should be enough going on to distract from his blandness, though.

The CGI is a bit too much to be consistent with the Judy Garland version, but I'm not going to quibble because it looks great otherwise. Black and white Kansas and rainbow Oz. It looks like they plan to do it right. But can they pull it off...?

I got the same feeling which I don't like. Don't get me wrong, I'm one of the few people who enjoyed Tim Burton's movie, but I want Oz to feel like something completely different.

I still intend on seeing this because it has a great cast, but I'm not sold just yet.

I wonder if Franco is going to be responsible for the apes with special abilities conquering the world in this movie too.

Nice job, dick.

;)

I assume it's shot digitally (almost everything is nowadays), so actually shooting in black and white isn't even an option.

I think the trailer looks fun! The casting of the three witches alone is almost enough to get me to the theater.

As for the references to the '39 movie: They don't actually have the rights to the old movie, only the books, so it can't be an all-out prequel to the movie.

Oh yeah, good point. I hadn't thought of that.
