"Oz: The Great and Powerful" Teaser poster

This will probably start a riot, but I rather liked Tin Man, and not just for the Zooey factor.

This new movie could be really great if set far enough in the past.

I kind of liked Tin Man, too, but I also thought it was kind of boring and dragged in several places. I normally like Zooey Deschanel, but I thought her performance in that was kind of bland.

@The Lensman Strip out the songs? Do you rave? I think we're gonna have to revoke your Winkie License

LOL! Well I'd like a non-musical version, and I really have no interest in hearing any updated versions of those classic songs, especially after seeing the updated "Willy Wonka". But I would like to see someone try to do a faithful adaptation of the book.

"Tin Man" was the first time I became aware of Zooey. I'd never heard the name, but her acting was utter shit in this and almost put me off her altogether. Seriously, I remember thinking "this girl has no future as an actress....she's got less range than a plank of wood."

I remember talking to my brother about it, he was familiar with her, and I kept thinking we were talking about two different actress the way he spoke of her positively.

I've since seen her in other stuff, and I'm guessing that "Tin Man" was an exception since I've enjoyed her in other works.

I generally like Zooey very much but in Tin Man it was like she was on sedatives or something. She literally looked like she was about to fall asleep the whole time.

l thought Raimi was doing World of Warcraft? Oh well, this sounds like a better vehicle for him anyway. Hopefully lt'll be better than The Witches of Oz, a recent turd that the Asylum just shat out.

You convinced me. I love the 1939 as is, but, yea, wouldn't want to see the songs updated, they are a product of their time. I haven't read the books, so I would love to see a Series of Faithful adaptations

Interesting. An in-continuity sequel to the Judy Garland movie? I wonder what their approach will be? Is it going to be a musical and be consistent with the visual style of the original? That's probably asking for too much, but it could be great.

As for Tin Man, it was pretty good, but Zooey did seem a little stoned.

Never seen Tin Man. Downloading now. A drugged-out Zooey Deshanel in high heels sounds pretty damn good to me!

I love the casting for the three witches!
I hadn't heard about any cast members other than Franco, but I just looked it up on wiki and you're right, that is some great casting.
As for Tin Man, I really enjoyed it. I actually just added it to my Netlfix Instant queue so I can watch it again.

You also have to remember it was a Sci-Fi (SyFy) presentation ;). They even managed to make Bruce Campbell less interesting than normal in the 2 movies he did for them.

I mean, they were still good (to me), maybe better than most of their movies.

And Tin Man being as long as it was did kinda make it boring at times. I think it would have had better pacing if it was edited down to one long movie instead of a mini-series.

Hmm. I knew that. I don't know why I typed "sequel."

I just looked at to picture, and didn't even notice any text on the page.
