Over and over and over

What plot device, or story, has been done by all five Star Trek shows...Since I didn't watch all of the shows, I'll see if I have an answer..

Crew has their bodies taken over by living cloud energy thingies..

I can think of an episode from each of TOS-TNG and DS9 where that happened. Did Enterprise/Voy have episodes where crew members had their bodies taken over by either living clouds or plasma energy things...

And remember, the energy beings have to have 'talked' through the body they inhabit...

Are there other plot devices that crossed over into each show?

Time travel, of course! Where the reset button is involved! Not that I mind it all that much. -- RR

Since Voyager spent all of its time on the other side of the galaxy, I don't know that they ever had any crazy admiral stories. (OTOH, people who aren't fans of Janeway may claim that her actions in "Endgame" made her a crazy admiral. :p)

Not to go off topic, but I see it all the time between different series too. For example, the "reliving your victim's final moments memory engram as a punishment", in VOY and SG1.

TNG's "Lower Decks", VOY's "The Good Shephard" SG1's "The Other Guys"

The disembodied evil energy cloud flickers the lights, in SG1 and SGA

Plenty more where that came from.

Y'all are missing the obvious one-Every single ST series has got it in for some guy named Will. They all say "Fire at Will!" at one point or another.

not sure if this counts but what about the only option is to blow up the ship that get cancelled at the last second i'm pretty sure that was used in all the series.

nazi aliens might have counted thuogh i dont remember any being used in ds9 so it may not

ah!! one i'm sure has been done on all the series the unbalanced starship captain/ rouge starfleet officer that endangers the hero ship or federation

Actually, I'm a big fan of Janeway and I still think Endgame made her a crazy admiral. Which is precisely why I don't like Endgame. ;)

I've always considered the venerable Transporter to be the ultimate plot device! It's served the writers well to base their stories around. And by golly, there's been plenty of them.

Does anyone know what the first ever episode that was based on a Transporter incident? I'm sure it was "The Enemy Within" when Kirk was split in two.

Yeah..I get your meaning..in fact have they ever done a time travel episode where the reset button WASN'T set?

The reset button is an integral part of certain types of Time travel stories. Other wise Earth is ruled by Nazis or the E-D is a war ship and Tasha is alive!!!! (Not sure which is worse ;) ) Though I don't recall a reset button in "Assignment: Earth".
