I guess my favorite "current" band would be Fountains of Wayne. Their 2007 album Traffic & Weather is excellent.
I listened to these guys on iTunes last night and bought some of their stuff. Like these guys alot! Thanks!
Try Carbon Leaf. Get Indian Summer off iTunes and give that a try. If you like that, try Shadows in the Banquet Hall, which is early REM-like.
I'm only 21, but I second this... though I think their best might be "Echo Echo" (not sure if this is on iTunes, I own the CDs).
Yep. I ended up downloading about 4-5 of their songs. On the mellow end of my taste, but still liked 'em.
Hmmm.
The most "recent" bands that I like right now are:
Switchfoot
Green Day
Train
The Killers
Puddle of Mudd
Matchbox 20 (yeah, yeah....I know)
Five for Fighting (for the mushy stuff)
Thanks
auntiehill.
I'm already a fan of Green Day and Matchbox 20, and I also like some stuff by The Killers and Train. Although I really, REALLY hate Pat Monahan on his own. That one song he's got going now is all manner of dumb.

Whenever it comes on XM radio, I mash my back button and listen to whatever was on before it until the doggne thing is over.
I've don't recall hearing any Switchfoot or Puddle of Mudd...although I might just not know them by name. I'll check them both out. Thanks!
The only time I like any of that "death metal" stuff is when Pablo Francisco is talking about them.

That was pretty good, but I prefer Brian Posehn's
"Metal By Numbers".
Well, all I have to say about Metal By the Numbers is:
Must be an acquired taste.
Eskimo Joe are one of the best bands here. I still find now at 33, I listen to the same radio station I did when I was 19, as there is nothing better than triple j (hate commerical radio with a passion)
Other good bands from Australia - include
Something For Kate (songs like
Monsters and
Electricity, I'd recommend, as well the song which most fans now -
Captain ),
I agree about Eskimo Joe - they are pretty good. After listening to several bands out of this thread over the past couple of evenings (with many more to listen to this evening), the stats are:
Sam Roberts Band - downloaded everything I could get my grubby little paws on - about 30 songs (two full albums and a single), and if I could get on iTunes Canada I'd have downloaded more because they have a new single out that kicks ass, but it's not on iTunes U.S. yet.
However, I have listened to it here about 10 times:

Them Kids is a kickass song!
Arcade Fire - downloaded about 6 songs and will probably download more.
Eskimo Joe - downloaded 5 songs and will go back and try more.
Carbon Leaf - downloaded 4 songs and might download more, although they are on the mellow side.
Fountains of Wayne - downloaded 2 songs but will definitely go back when I have more time and listen to/download others.
I have also listened to several songs by your suggestion
Something for Kate, and plan to download some of their stuff. Although the best song I've heard so far is not one of the ones you suggested, but a song called
Deja Vu. Love that one!
