Our Man Bashir; any fans?

Bashir is a bit grating early on, but becomes MUCH more likable as the series develops. His holosuite fantasy world and his friendship with O'Brien helped to mellow him out.

I also am saddened by the lack of Ezri in a fancy dress, and an S7 Bond parody venture would've been a good way to have it happen. Oh well.

Perhaps with some elements of The Avengers, Ezri as a female agent who assists Bond/Bashir amid a charming, witty interaction....

Hey, Rush, you know you write a lot of Ezri fanfic...How about, in your next story, Ezri's called up to the bridge for an emergency, and she's been on the holodeck...leather catsuit? Just a thought.

EDIT: This cynical episode was justified by Julian's character, who had already been established as an espionage geek, hence his friendship with Garak. Seldom has a cash-in been so organic--in a way, it set the stage for Sloane.

I was going to mention that.

This was one of my favorite DS9 episodes, and as others have mentioned, its when I actually started to like the Bashir character.

:barf:

Never understood what anyone sees in catsuits.

There was an episode with a scene where Bashir is sitting in a limo wearing his special agent outfit while talking to O'Brien (in his villain costume with eye patch) who is outside his window. I heard Eon's attitude was why we only saw that quick scene rather than another whole episode of Bashir's secret agent stuff. I forget which episode it was.

I think the episode is His Way The secret agent scene was much more generic of the 60's spy craze, less of a James Bond homage, and obviously much shorter.

I've been trying to work something out.

Is Bashir meant to be British? His accent confuses me.
As a Brit, I can conclusively say YES, he has a very British accent (like his Dad. although it is from a different region)

See, I'm British as well.

But I couldn;t quite tell whether or not he was meant to be a very well spoken American or a Brit.
I see what you mean about the similarity, but he still sounds English to me (the actor is also English)

Bashir's father, Richard, is British (he has a more "Cockney"--I think that's how you spell it--accent); his mother Amsha is Arabic (apparently Egyptian, if we go by the actress).

Hmm....

Well, it'd have to be my next DS9 fanfic, not my next Aventine fanfic.

But after the one I'm currently working on, I'm going to probably work on some "Adventures of Dr. Julian Bashir"--i.e., Bond-type spy missions for our doctor, in his "real life" (mostly for Starfleet Intelligence, some for That Other Group)--and I'll use Ezri whenever I can, as his Lovely Assistant--again, a la The Avengers....

Consider it a promise. :)

Oh, yay! I love you. That is going to be made of so much win! *hugs*

I love Garak in this epi. I mean, I always love him, but the "kiss the girl and get the key? They never told us that in the Obsidian Order!" ist just delightful!

One of the best disaster holodeck/ holosuite situations ever. It was great to see Garak trying to stay alive and impart some knowledge unto his apprentice (Bashir). I've always had a fond spot for the DS9 holosuite episodes. They were fun to watch and had meaning. TNG and Voyager generally had holo programs that could put one to sleep or overused as plot devices. Cobra
