I'm watching Melora right now, and one of the things I've been noticing on this rewatch so far is how much life there really is on the Promenade. We got to see so many different places in the first two seasons alone and honestly I wanted an excuse to talk about the Klingon Restaurant. I loved that place, I loved the Klingon Chef and I wanted to see more of him past Season 2. I mean the guy respected his customers, was an amazing singer (He could give the Bella Notte guy from Lady and the Tramp a run for his money) and it just seemed like a fun place to be. Of course if you don't like Klingon food than it probably wouldn't be, but I would try it.

So where on the promenade would you hang out. I'm leaving out Quarks because that is an obvious choice and I would also include the Holosuites as part of Quarks. It's a big promenade, there are many other places to choose.

Andorian fast food, Chez Zimmerman, Pancho's Happy Bottom Riding Club, or Jacobson's Used Photons.

Maybe Thomas Riker had it right: the reasons for visiting the station is to gamble at Quark's, do whatever Rikers do in the Holodeck, and wander the Promenade, hoping your fake beard doesn't fall off.

The Klingon restaurant was interesting, when they showed it.

But y'know, Qaurk's is fun.

They showed it twice, if I recall. I wish they had shown it more. One of the things I appreciated about Season 2 was they did seem to show more promenade locations.

As for Quarks, yeah of course everyone would go to Quarks and it is fun. If I had included that in this thread it would have been a little boring.

Quark's would need to be several different choices:

At the bar
At the dabo tables
At a table on the main floor
At a quieter table upstairs
At the holosuites
Was the tongo wheel in a back room at Quark's? I can't think of anyplace else it would have been.

However, I picked Jake and Nog's spot. I enjoy sitting places like that and just watching the world go by.

The tongo wheel was visible from an upper level. Most likely something they could set up and take down when needed.

Of course that was probably the case re: the sets, anyway. It's in front of that big orange (Orange? Ewww!) thing.

I voted for Klingon Resturant but you also forgot to add two others. The Infirmary and Odo's security office. I think I got to go with Odo's office and like how it can lead towards the jail area. I also liked the Most Wanted Vids on the wall of various criminals.

Not sure if I'd "hang out" anywhere else but Jake and Nog's special spot... But the Promenade is also a place for business. Might be I'd end up spending time at the Assay Office if I really were living and working on the station, say. Or doing time at Odo's. Or doing other weird stuff with time via one of the Orbs whenever they were put on display there. The Bajoran Temple is basically the same set whenever it appears, but there might be more to it than immediately meets the eye. Certainly one'd expect Bajorans to put their own stamp on the station as soon as possible, and to stamp it big. Perhaps there are numerous Campaign Offices for the assorted clerics competing for sacral and secular positions of power?

Yes, It must have been moveable, because that time Odo caught two people working together to cheat at dabo one of them was looking down from that spot in the balcony at the dabo wheel, not at the tongo wheel.

The Bajoran temple was a nice set. I liked how it had a vestibule before the temple proper.

For as much a theme of religion (especially through the eyes of the Bajorans) was covered, I wish we spent a little more time in the Shrine. Maybe not every episode, but I think we only saw the inside maybe 2 or 3 times.

The Martus Mazur Casino thing was such an hilarious episode for me.

I only recently saw it for the first time, admittedly I love DS9, but for years now I’ve given most of the early episodes a miss in favour of Season 5, 6 and 7 and I gotta say, there are some very weird stinkers in Season 1 and 2 in particular and some bright spots.

But Martus Mazur and his casino are right behind Move Along Home was a pretty bad spot.

I was surprised in the early episodes to see Bashir eating Gagh, Klingon Restaurant hardly seems sanitary, but I suppose stomach bugs are easily sorted in the 24th century, they have to be.

But yeah after Season 2/3 they basically forget about the rest of the Promenade Beyond a few lines here or there.

So for me after droning on... The Replimat I guess.
