Other Star Trek Message Board

Greetings! There was another Star Trek message board that was around a while ago that I would like to visit again if it's still around. I lost the link to it and it's quite possible it's long gone, but I thought I would ask just in case. I remember it was heavily involved in trying to get a fifth season for Star Trek: Enterprise. Does anyone remember that site? Thank you!

There was also the "Hailing Frequencies BBS" back in the late 90's that I frequented before coming here around 98 or 99. Then I think it went away altogether and the rest is history...

Don't forget Star Trek Central! My one back in the day... but that got acquired in 1999 and died with the dot come bubble in 2001.

It's scary to think many people here were likely born after my board came and went!

That's right! I remember early '00s it was TrekNation and TrekWeb. A lot of us posted on both; I always favored here.

Do you recall why TrekWeb shut up shop?

Vaguely. I think the owner, Steve Krutzler(?) had simply moved up in his professional life as well as getting engaged and no longer had any interest in either overseeing the board or financing it and letting someone else take over. ENT was either the only Trek on or it had been canceled and Trek was in the wilderness with no future in sight.

IIRC there was a guy named Gustavo who did a lot for the board behind the scenes was willing to run it and/or buy it but for whatever reason, Steve refused and the board simply faded away.

I always loved the wild nature of Trekweb and thought this place far to sedate back then. Nowadays I can barely remember Trekweb as I’ve been here exponentially longer than I was there.

IIRC, the message boards at TrekCore was where the last hanger on’s went, but I think their msg boards may have shut down.

One of the final admins of Trekcore's board here - yup, it was shut down because the tech admin no longer had the time/mental resources/etc to run it properly. Life interfered, as it does sometimes.

I didn't step up to take over his responsibilities because I didn't have the tech knowledge (I was responsible for the every day things on the board itself, I could do easy things like re-arranging or creating board parts and take care of member profiles and banning etc but I drew the line at the truly technical side of things) and also not the mental energy to basically be the sole admin of such a sophisticated message board (it wasn't an easy board to navigate tech-wise).

Hence why the decision to shut it down was made, as much as it saddened us.

@Alexander Corrino that is sad to hear. Ive also given up on my private web projects, mainly due to regulatory requirements which have become very strict over the last few years. Without professional oversight, privately maintained forums cannot exist within the current legal body.

There a so many malicious actors out there, actively targeting the legal shortcomings of private web services. To be 100% compliant is a Sisyphean task for every webmaster. On the other hand, crushing a website by initiating legally provided complaint processes is very easy. AI tools and cheap foreign workforce can constantly put devastating pressure on any webmaster who may have been laissez-faire in the past.

Yep. It's actually where I got started (with some other Romulan name I no longer recall). I joined there and here about the same time right when the Romulans debuted in Enterprise. Then my account here got lost in the big crash.
