OT: Non-Trek Tie Ins discussion thread

I assume so. He’s called the War Doctor for a reason. Those Big Finish audios are fine but he’s just like the Doctor in them. There’s nothing different about him at all, except being a tad depressed.
That's the whole point of him. He's not a fallen Doctor or evil, he's just the Doctor in extreme circumstances causing him to turn to options he'd typically consider off-limits.

Now I agree that Day of the Doctor bungled the concept of a forgotten Doctor (hey let's have a hidden Doctor who isn't considered a true Doctor for doing things the Doctor admits to doing anyway). But you're not going to get stories about a gun toting Doctor tearing Dalek ass on the Gallifreyan battlefield, if that's what you're looking for.

I don’t mean like Rambo. Just that he’ll be more of a action hero. That and him working in a squad.
The third Doctor was more of what the War Doctor should be like.

The Doctor is never a team player.
But the point of the War Doctor was that he was different to that of the other versions. He went so against his character that future incarnations were ashamed of him. So far they’ve just shown him to be very much like the Doctor.

Did you watch Day of the Doctor? What you’re describing is how later Doctors remembered him until that point, not how he’s actually portrayed on screen.

Any idea when you'll be able to talk about them?
One of them will have a formal announcement from the folks in charge. Not sure when yet, as it will depend in part upon when my work gets approved, and other things going on in that particular license.

As for the other, I've asked my editor if I can at least talk about it a little bit. Waiting to hear back. :)

Yeah, I saw that after it was announced. I'm curious what it's connection is to the game of the same name that came out a while back. I didn't see if it said anywhere in the announcement if it was a tie-in or novelization.

In a comment on his Facebook post about it Keith said it is part adaption, part Ripley family backstory.

Yeah, Alien: Isolation is mostly a novelization of the game, but it also provides detailed backstory for both Ellen and Amanda Ripley.

It'll be out in January 2019 from the fine folks at Titan.

I don't know if anyone else here uses Google Play, but for anyone who does Titan Books stuff is now available through the Play store.
They're tie ins include, tons of movie novelizations, including the Wonder Woman and Kong: Skull Island movie novelization. They also have original tie-in novels for NCIS: Los Angeles and New Orleans, The Flash and Arrow, Gotham, the Blacklist, Knightfall, both original novels and novelizations for the Alien and Predator franchises, the Star Trek autobiographies, and original novels and novelizations for both the original and new Planet of the Apes series.

They have started releasing tie-ins for Stranger Things now.
So far we've gotten a behind the scenes book, Worlds Turned Upside Down: The Official Behind the Scenes Companion by Gina McIntyre
The first novel, Suspicious Minds by Gwenda Bond, which just came out a couple weeks ago, is a prequel focusing on Eleven's mother and Martin Brenner.
The second novel, Darkness on the Edge of Town by Adam Christopher, comes out in June and is a prequel focused on Chief Hopper in New York.
They also did a comic book miniseries written by Jody Houser, with art by Stefano Martino, inks by Keith Champagne, and colors by Lauren Affe, which focuses on what was happening to Will in the Upside Down during season one. The last individual issue came out last month and the Trade comes out in May.

I’m curious what Alien story Amazon has adapted for their next audible audio play for Alien Day.
