OT: Non-Trek Tie Ins discussion thread

Of you're right, for some reason I saw the mention of DC when it was talking about the stuff Moench did and thought it was talking about Terror being from DC.
Speaking of PotA comics, has anybody here read the Boom! Studios stuff?

Speaking of Titan, Amazon has posted the final covers for both my novelization of WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES and the prequel, REVELATIONS, by Greg Keyes, which went on sale today!

Finished off the Captain America novel Wednesday night, and I quite enjoyed it! I'd definitely recommend it to any BBS members who enjoy Robert Greenberger's work. His characterization of Cap is wonderful, and there's some cool obscure Marvel characters who pop up as well.

I can't resist pointing out that THE QUEEN OF SWORDS by R.S. Belcher was officially published today. That's a double-header since it's a book by a former Strange New Worlds winner, edited by another Star Trek writer (me).

It's also a very a cool novel about pirates and secret societies and a lost city . . . .

I just started reading Boom Studios Farscape comics, and they don't appear to be have been mentioned here yet, so I thought I'd add them.

Has anyone here read the Flash novel The Haunting of Barry Allen and its continuation(?) Arrow: A Generation of Vipers?

I recently binge-watched the first two Flash seasons and like the series, so I was playing with the idea of reading the Flash novel. On the other hand I dislike the Arrow characters from what I've seen in the Flash and LoT crossovers and the two or three episodes I've seen. With the Flash novel and A Generation of Vipers being some kind of two-parter, I guess my question is two-fold: how prominent are the Arrow characters in the Flash novel and can the Flash novel be read on its own (as in has it a part that is concluded within the Flash novel and only an overarching arc continued into the Archer book)?

Oliver plays a relatively significant supporting role in the Flash novel and Barry and Cisco play a major role in the Arrow novel. The Flash novel's A plot is not resolved by the end and continues into the Arrow novel. The B plot from the Flash novel is pretty well wrapped up.

I love both The Flash and Arrow but I will say that I felt The Flash novel was kind of meh, especially since everyone felt slightly out of character. The Arrow novel, surprisingly, was better with the characterizations of Barry and Cisco. I have no idea why the change in quality considering that the same pair of authors wrote both...

Like @20fridge says, yeah Oli plays a significant role in The Flash novel . I enjoyed both (but enjoy both series so ymmv) but they are a continuing story.

Thanks for the replies.

I guess since there at least is a resolved B-plot and the eBook is relatively cheap on Amazon.de I will give the Flash novel a try. And who knows, maybe I like Arrow better in prose form. Wouldn't be the first time a character or characters are redeemed “on paper“ for me.

I personally thought the characterizations in both were pretty good. Just don't go expecting them to slip neatly into the continuity. I can't find my notes to be sure, but from memory, I think there's a place where the Flash novel fits if you fudge the mentioned month; but the Arrow novel can't fit anywhere without ignoring something.

Probably the mention of Felicity as Overwatch.

Belatedly responding to this, as I just found the thread.....

Rockne did not write the stories for the three D'Argo miniseries, though he did approve all three of them. However, I wrote them all by myself. :)

Also, my Orphan Black book, Classified Clone Report will be out in the middle of this month, after the show finishes its final season (the delay because the book has spoilers for season 5). It's a comprehensive guide to the series, constructed as information gathered by Delphine Cormier over the course of the show (which is why Delphine gets the byline on the cover). Also I want to mention the Nights of the Living Dead anthology, which is a bunch of stories that take place around the seminal 1968 zombie flick, co-edited by Jonathan Maberry and George A. Romero his own self. George sadly died the week after the book was released (at least he got to see it in print.....), and the anthology is a nice tribute to his genius. (Romero pretty much singlehandedly created the zombie subgenre as we know it today.)

I've got a story in the anthology, as do Jonathan and George, as well as NOTLD co-scripter John Russo, and horror legends John Skipp and Joe R. Lansdale, as well as Mira Grant, Craig Engler, Mike Carey, Jay Bonansinga, Ryan Brown, David Wellington, Max Brailler, Carrie Ryan, Isaac Marion, David J. Schow, Brian Keene, Chuck Wendig, and Neal & Brendan Shusterman. [Amazon | Barnes & Noble | Kobo | Indie Bound]

Oh, sorry about the mix up with the D'Argo comics. I think either Amazon or Goodreads had both your and Rockne S O'Bannon, so I assumed it was the same set up as the main series.
And since you're here, KRAD, I just wanted to tell you I loved the first miniseries. It flowed perfectly right out of the miniseries, and felt just like a new episode of the show. I really liked finally getting to see Hyneria.

Bought the Flash novel and have finished it today. The Arrow characters actually didn't bother me as much as on TV, although the authors have Oliver/Arrow overshadow the actual Flash characters too much once he and his team arrive IMO (he seems like he can't do wrong, everyone admire him etc.). Anyway, I have bought the follow up novel as well, we'll see if it's get worse when it's an official Arrow novel ...

For the Flash novel I would side more with @ATimson here, I think, although there were scenes were some characters felt slightly out of character. Nothing mayor, just some dialogues not feeling 100% true, like the characters were from Earth 1.1 ;)

I finished reading @Greg Cox's Warehouse 13 novel, A Touch of Fever last night, and I really enjoyed it.
I'll admit I haven't watched the show since it went off the air, so my memory of it isn't that clear, but from I remember of it, the book did a great job capturing the feel of the show.
The characters all felt like I remembered them, and the story was exactly the kind of story they would have done on the show.
I would highly recommend it for any fans of the show who are looking for a new W13 adventure.
