original alien planet surface sound sadly never released :(

The opening cue from "Spock's Brain" wasn't used because of distortion (or "static" as the paperwork mentioned) inherent in the actual recording. I was surprised when I heard the cue tracked into a later episode.

Hmmm, now that's a point I was wondering about that is now confirmed. For a long time, I thought it was my system somehow causing the static, but you can really hear it when the music is compressed (and I tend to run compression in the car). I guess in "Let That Be Your Last Battlefield", it was used at a lower and less noticeable level.

I have had a little success with some noise filtering and also taking a noise sample, but of course you'd never want to sell it that way if you wanted to keep the originality :)

This is probably a really stupid question - but I would LOVE to use this sound effect in an up and coming Indy game. Can anyone tell me the copyright implications? We are a start-up hobby business trying to make our first commercial game so money is tight, but this would be a real dream effect!
