I think if there's one unifying thread between those four novels, it's their focus on the characters, their backgrounds, and their relationships. And that's what this movie is basically about: exploring the origins of these characters, where they came from, and how their relationships formed.

Chase Masterson Debacle?
Funny, I have it completely the other way 'round. Loved SW and have reread it many times, didn't so much care for Sarek.SW I found very disappointing, if only for the reason that it had an intriguing premise and I usually like Duane's novels. For my money, Sarek by AC Crispin was a much better novel covering relatively similar territory and would have tied in nicely with this movie.
