Orci: improvements to engine room?

Definitely Herbert. Maybe.

That's what he's hinting, anyway:

I’ll tell you this. There are some cool improvements to engine room!

This appeared in the comments section of a TrekMovie article from earlier today which also contains a couple of other details about the production just getting underway.

You may now commence speculation.

Oh saint's be praised!! If this is true I am happy! I was happy before, I am just even more happy now. :)

They're switching from the Budweiser brewery to the Guinness brewery?
I heard they’re using the Shell Haven oil refinery in Essex. ;)

If they did I'd be able to get some pretty decent set pics, living right near it and all that :p

As for engineering, sounds to me like they've built a set, perhaps with a proper warp core? If so, I'll be VERY happy about that. It'll go a long ways to easing the aesthetic problems I had with the last movie.

I welcome improvements to (and -hopefully- replacement of) the brewery engine room set!

The only thing worse for the 09 movie would have been if they had gone with their equally-lame-other-idea for engineering: a redress of a production line of a Krispy Kreme doughnut store.

Canon violation!

there's no need to change the engineering, IMO

I would have put more computer-ish displays around the brewing equipment, but I otherwise agree. It was a bold decision to do it that way, and it's honestly the least of the problems of that movie (still a fan, but it has problems, just like any other Trek movie).

I don't mind the brewery/engineering section. For the most part it worked. The only time it didn't work for me is when Kirk and Scotty were being chased by security after Scotty came out of the tubes. To me it was glaringly obvious where they were and it took me out of the movie for a moment.

I really hope these improvements utilize a more "Great Taste, Less Filling" aesthetic.

The improvement being that Beer is actually brewed on the Enterprise!

I'm all for a new Engineering, but I hope they at least give it the same gritty, industrial feel as the previous movie, and don't make it TOO sleek and high-tech.

The fact it actually felt like a real power plant where people actually worked was the strongest aspect of that set.
