Opinion: Best Trek captain?

Kirk is very predictable. As a captain that is good. As a character, not so good.

Captain - Kirk.

As a character - Sisko.

If you want to do it based on technical terms, it has to be Janeway. She managed to survive for 7 years in unchartered territory amongst many hostile species'. Not only this but she did it with a minimal crew and a small ship. She found ways to turn the odds in her favour on many occasions and she constantly outwitted the Borg. Furthermore her actions led to the Borg being dealt a crippling blow, whilst at the same time getting most of her crew home.

Overall though, I'd say the best captain is Picard. He is a lot more variable than the other captains and he excels in solving problems with minimal conflict.

Which made for exciting television!

I would be courtmarshaled serving under Picard. The first time he decided to let a planet die because of the prime directive I would beam him down to the planet and say "Let me know when you change your mind."

Kirk, Picard, Janeway and Archer were all good each in their own way. But the best, however, was, hands down, Benjamin Sisko. He should've been a captain from the start of DS9. Not waited till the last episode of season 3 to promote him.
