I won't argue against the assertion that the opening credits to "Star Trek: First Contact" are pretty uninspired visually since there's nothing to them but the out of focus thing going on, but they're some of my favourites just because the music theme played with them is so awesome. To me it's the most beautiful and moving theme in any of the Star Trek movies. I think the use of it on other Star Trek DVDs is proof of how much it's admired by many others too. Jerry Goldsmith even said on the "Star Trek: First Contact" DVD that he liked the movie so much that it really inspired him towards writing a great score and I think that really comes through in it.
Rob: Pertaining to the new "Trek" movie, I think they should just jump in, not bother with opening credits, but have something toward the end. On a "NAISSANCE" or other "Star Trek" fan fic note, I think you should have a listen to these two. (Music from "Pirates Of The Carribean".)
