Only in New Orleans...

In the first season of TNG, men were shown wearing the alternate dress uniform (which was sadly done away with in subsequent seasons, anyway). There were complaints.

I think that was my first clue that Trekkies are not always as high-minded as I believed in my youth.

I just imagined that a'la George Jetson he just accidently hit the "Hers" button of his automatic dressing machine and didn't have time to redress before heading to duty.

And this is why Trek purists don't take TNG seriously. At least Scotty had a reason for wearing a skirt...

WTF!? When'd he nail Amy? I'd think something that disturbing would've lodged itself squarely in my memory and refused to budge.

1.) Men in the ancient world can wear skirts all they want. The modern world is a very different (and better) place. Those skirt-wearing 'men' in the ancient world were also known to engage in copious amounts of pederasty too. I'm glad modern civilization tends to frown on such disgusting behavior.

As for the Scottish wearing them, well, they do spend a good portion of their lives drunk off their ass so... :p

2.) San Fran earned it's reputation for 'alternative living', just as NOLA has a well-deserved rep for political corruption and D.C. for being a real-life Mos Eisley. After all, you will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy...

3.) That guy filing suit is a dumbass for the following reasons:

  • He's wasting the court's time with a frivolous law suit that any self-respecting judge will toss out.
  • Only $1?! This is supposed to be a civil rights case. He could easily sue for a million!
  • He outed himself as someone who probably does enjoy 'alternative living' just a little too much.
  • Going to court in outlandish clothes just to make a scene is a good way to get the judge to rule against you, just because you're acting like a Dumbass. You don't f--- around when going to court. Period.

"Kif, have the boy lay out my formal shorts." "What boy sir?" "You Kif, you lay out my shorts."

And also .... "Velour ...."
