One-year countdown thread!

Only 8 more days until we need to scoop our eyeballs and our ear drums to avoid being spoiled (yes, that's me whining too :alienblush:)

US/Canada general release (May 17): -31
US IMAX/3D (May 15): -29
UK, Ireland and Australia (May 9): -23
World premiere in Sydney, Australia (April 23): -7

Keep an eye out for the final trailer.

I'll have to join the whining party too. I just had two people come up to me at work to talk about Cumberbatch as "Khan". These people work in different areas than I do and we never really spoke except to say hello until the 2009 movie. After that movie we began to talk more...which is fun when we are just speculating, but now they want to talk about spoilers and they don't believe that I don't want to be spoiled for this movie. Grrr.

I can't believe I still have old school fans try to tell me that the 2009 movie did nothing to bring Star Trek back into the mainstream. Pre 2009 no one at work talked about a franchise that was effectively dead. Now many of my co-workers are talking about it...I just wish 2 of them would talk (to me) a little less...

Whine over!

^Agreed completely! And my sympathies on those spoilers :-/

US/Canada general release (May 17): -30
US IMAX/3D (May 15): -28
UK, Ireland and Australia (May 9): -22
World premiere in Sydney, Australia (April 23): -6
That amazing new trailer, just in case anyone missed it elsewhere:

I guess on Day One, instead of using a Partridge in a Pear Tree...

It'll have to be a 'Cumberbatch in a Big Honking Starship'.

;)

I'm so so so so so so excited... SO EXCITED@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@!

I've stayed out of here for a while, but got spoiled on one tiny bit thanks to facebook (might have even been startrek.com, those jerks!)

I will be slobbering all over this forum come May 9nth even if it's only in the thread for the blessed people who live in the blessed countries where they will get to watch the greatest movie event since 2009 before all the other sad and ill-birthed folk.

I had a look on Google Maps last night and I swear I saw Australia shaking. It must be from all the excitement for the world premiere.

US/Canada general release (May 17): -29
US IMAX/3D (May 15): -27
UK, Ireland and Australia (May 9): -21
World premiere in Sydney, Australia (April 23): -5
That amazing new trailer AGAIN, because it's JUST SO AMAZING:

I just watched some cast interviews and they are seeing the finished movie for the first time on Friday.
No time to include that countdown I guess. :p

US/Canada general release (May 17): -28
US IMAX/3D (May 15): -26
UK, Ireland and Australia (May 9): -20
World premiere in Sydney, Australia (April 23): -4
And now a message from John Harrison:

The Australian Premiere is just for contest winners and the glitterati.
Us regular Australians have to wait till May 9 just like everyone else in the world.
I'm guessing that the people who attend the Premiere won't be writing on forums.
Still it might be best to avoid movie show and the like till May. I don't want to hear reviews like villain John Harrison reveals himself as Khan or Decker or Charlie X or whoever.
Its fun (for me at least) to speculate but I don't want it confirmed until I'm sitting in the cinema.

^I'm seeing that as the countdown to the first reviews and, for those inclined (not me!) spoilers.

US/Canada general release (May 17): -27
US IMAX/3D (May 15): -25
UK, Ireland and Australia (May 9): -19
World premiere in Sydney, Australia (April 23): -3

I think I'll be quitting FB and this subforum once it premieres in Sydney.

19 days!!!! I saw the 3rd trailer yesterday when I saw Oblivion, it was fabulous on the big screen :)

I would think people are encouraged to tweet their reactions? Paramount have to believe they have a good movie here or else they would not premiere it a month before NA release. I certainly did not see any of this before the new GI joe movie for example.

The iron man premieres over the last few days have generated buzz through a steady stream of positive tweets.

The GI Joe movie was originally supposed to be released a year ago...

I think it had more than enough advance notice.
