One for the Icy_Penguigo "The Venture"

LtCarter

Lieutenant
Red Shirt
OK finally have something new. Saw this ship here at Trek BBS and got permission to create my own style for the design.

The basic story for mine is:
The Tobias class freighters were among earths first large sub-light transports. Fitted only with impulse engines, these ships were responsible for transporting large cargo and crew rotations to various space stations within the solar system. With the advent of warp drive these vessel became quickly obsolete and were thus dismantled. One ship the "Venture" was purchased by a group of scientist that feared with the increasing interactivity with alien species, possibly hostile ones the human race might be in danger. So they set out to add warp drive to one of these freighters and venture out to build a secret colony in an isolated sector of space.

Sorry i think one of these images is too large for the IMG tag to be used.

Neat!

It's not the size, it's that you're still an ensign.
You can't post inline images until you cast off that noob stigma. ;)

DeRO:Has a "Red Dwarf" Starbug feel to it.
Was working from I_P's image but now that you mention it, the Venture and for that matter the Daedalus do have that Starbug feel.
Forbin yes, cannot post inline myself but the good people here have been quoting my posts so the IMG tagged images show. Still i did not know if 1024x768 was too large, some groups have size limits.

And finally the space pics.

I like this ship . It nicely fills the spot immeadiatly before the Daedalus class

Thanks Wingsley & regemet, theres just too little known about the ships between the DY class and Daedalus.Especially the freighters. Still it was an easy and fun little ship to build.

Thanks, the space shots were done quickly with no real effects added. Managed a few lines, not too good with back-stories though.

The diary was recovered in the late 24th century with 3 pictures and a few notes: the spacedock where the ship was built required the scientists to add a registry number. Despite his protest the lead scientist haveing a circuit board in his hand at the time took the numbers from that board 0726-22.
: the airlocks were removed from the vessel so that no species would be able to board the ship.
: the lifeboats were gutted for extra storage after the ship was inspected, there was no need for them in deep space.
: the vessel was stated as being capable of of warp 2 but enhancements may have raised it to warp3.

Nice.

Perhaps the precursor of Psion's take on the Daedalus....

....Which some of us are still hoping to see more of.

**Hint, hint** ;)

Er... So, how do they get on and off of the ship? Wasn't this meant to be pre-ENT? Or is it post-ENT and Transporters are a regular thing on ships in your background?

Kewel writeup, overall. I really enjoyed reading the background w/the pics, as well as the above.

Sorry in my world Akiraprise never happened.
That would put this after the Phoenix but just before the Daedalus. Once the airlocks were removed everything entered or left the ship via shuttle/shuttlepod. No transporters or replicators on ships of this era.

Well, even boarding via shuttlepod infers an airlock of some sort, whether it be the whole bay or just on the hatch it docks to.

Dude when and where have you ever heard of a shuttle bay being referred to as an airlock? They have been called shuttlebays, shuttlepod bays, pressurized bays, cargobays, and landing bays. Airlocks are for people and small cargo. Though you are correct a bay is pressurized just like an airlock.

I cannot imagine a starship of any era of STAR TREK that does not have, at the very least, a shuttlebay, shuttles/pods/probes of some sort, and airlocks with docking facilities.

People can debate over when transporter technology became part of the mix, but the above features would seem essential unless the starship itself can either land in one piece or separate and land a specific module.
