Wingsley :
I cannot imagine a starship of any era of STAR TREK that does not have, at the very least, a shuttlebay, shuttles/pods/probes of some sort, and airlocks with docking facilities.
:Indeed the Venture does have a shuttle bay, i only watched a few episodes of the akiraprise but it seems in every episode some alien species was busting through the airlocks.
Thats specifically why they were removed from my ship. However the shuttle bay remains simply for the fact that when they do get to a planet to set up there base they have a way to leave the ship with all there supplies.
Wingsley :
People can debate over when transporter technology became part of the mix, but the above features would seem essential unless the starship itself can either land in one piece or separate and land a specific module.
: Love those endless debates, however for the sake of this story there are no transporters the only way to access the ship is via shuttlebay.
The ship is not capable of planetfall but the towed modules, not shown, would be dropped from orbit.
