One and Done: Improve the movie with one suggestion

Make it clearly an AU but still not too different from the original timeline/universe, so no old Spock or any mention of the events in the original timeline/universe. It would be better if there was no question of it being an an altered timeline instead of an AU. AUs are canonical in Trek, after all. The plot wouldn't have to change a lot.

They say in the film that it's an alternate universe steming from Nero's incursion into the past in 2233. Before that it was identical to the ENT/TOS/TNG/etc timeline. Where's the confusion?

I would have introduced Old Spock differently. After Vulcan implodes, cut to the siloette of old spock stanind in the snow watching the event. Don't tell us who he is, make it mysterious.

also, Kirk escaping from the brig would have been better than spock shoving him into an escape pod.

The confusion is that all the technology, including the tech on the Kelvin is different and in most cases more advanced - but you can level that criticism against Enterprise too, so meh.

^I say "looks more advanced" and then only because it's a modern film. I reckon the Kelvin is pretty much what the TOS Enterprise would have "really" looked like. Everything later can be explained with the butterfly effect.

YMMV.

I everything can be explained (tenuously) with the butterfly effect.

One thing Iwould have liked is the entire main cast getting medals at the end and not just kirk. I think they deserved them.

Forsome reason JJ abrams asked George Lucas on what he thought would make the film better. His answer light sabres... I wish George had asked JJ's or anyones advice on what woulld make the star wars pequels better.

Have Robau shoot lasers out of his eyes.

I mean, we all know he can do it. The JJA just held back on it for some reason.
