Once Upon a Time (ABC) - 1x02 till the bitter end

So will we get the inevitable (?) scene where August lies to Emma--and his nose grows an inch?

Nose?

Too bad this isn't on cable. :rommie: So many lost opportunities...

Ratings ticked up! Good news - for broadcast overall, ratings are crashing all over the place.

Leading the pack was the return of ABC’s Once Upon A Time (2.9/8), which was up two tenths from its last original three weeks ago.

isn't that amazing? Not too long ago, those ratings would look horrible. Now they're a good sign.

Yeah...I wonder how OUAT's continuing success might impact ABC's decisions about its new fall series? Its dramas are one of two flavors: Revenge-style soaps and OUAT-inspired fantasy.

ABC still hasn't announced renewals, which makes me think they're going to look at renewals and new orders as a whole, skewing towards either soaps or fantasy, waiting till the last minute to get the full ratings picture, which continues to be in flux.

ABC's full list of potential drama series.

It's funny to go down the list...fantasy, soap, fantasy, soap, fantasy, soap.... They're getting almost as focused as CBS. :rommie:

Isn't OUAT pretty much a soap?

Another great episode, the layers get deeper with every episode.

I don't recall ever knowing August's last name was Booth
RJD, I take back my doubt about Pinnochio being the actual cabinet with a name like that

So, now we know Rumplestiltskin did intenionally get caught up in the curse, and exactly why he made it, he's a sly one, no doubt.
Only one deal he ever welched on, bummer for him.

Did August lie to Mr. Gold, or did he just keep quiet and let him make wrong assumptions without correcting him? I could swear he did actively lie at least once, in the immortal words of John Locke, "I need to watch that again"

Did this episode confirm he's Pinnochio? I missed it, if it did.
Also, the guy riding on the motorcycle at the opening title card, seemed to move a little wooden. Any good HD screen shots, that might reveal they actual put a wooden looking guy on that bike?

Kristin over at E! the other day in her daily spoiler chat said there is a SUPER MAJOR MAIN CHARACTER death coming to Once Upon A Time in the final 3 episodes, so major she says she doesn't see how the death would be able to "stick" so maybe that leades some credence to the promo they continue to show of Emma swording a tied up Regina with the town watching.

Or David maybe? I was thinking perhaps the curse would move along to let people (or just one person) leave Storybrooke. I don't know why David would leave, but I think it might be good to have him absent for a while. The stuff with him and Snow is just getting repetitive and I don't really want to see that every week until they realise their true love.

The episode didn't definitively confirm that August is Pinnochio, but it seems like the evidence is pointing to either that or Bae, and now that Bae has been ruled out, who else could he be? I figured they were telegraphing their intent with having him jerk around like a marionette in his sleep and then refer to some incurable disease - he's becoming a wooden puppet.

And telling us his last name was "Booth" (which I think is new info) really hammers it home. :rommie:

As for the "shocking" death, maybe it will be Rumples in the conservatory with the magic knife. That's inevitable, might as well get on with it...that definitely would be a "nah, they'll wiggle out of it next season" kind of death.

So if he is Pinocchio, does that mean he slipped into the real world at around the same time as Emma? That's about the only way I can think to explain his age, unless there was some kind of curse that made him a lot older.

^The theory is that

He was in the same compartment thing in which they placed baby Emma. From what I recall Gepetto made it so it's easy to assume that Pinocchio jumped in there for some reason, or maybe Gepetto told him to hide there to save his son?

Wow, good catch. I didn't notice that. Maybe it really is so.

It is just speculation but maybe Sidney is the "shocking" death being rumored? It would be sort of silly since he isn't really a main character. But Giancarlo Esposito is cast in another show for this fall so he is going to have to exit the show or at least take a reduced part. Plus, given what happened in the most recent episode it seems they are setting Sidney up to take the fall for Regina's scheming.

^A reduced part? How much more "reduced" should he get? Cutting his 10 words every other episode to 7 words every third episode?
