Once Upon a Time (ABC) - 1x02 till the bitter end

^^ No, that won't happen. But it's interesting who the stranger turns out to be-- I didn't see that coming.

Maybe he's not just in the cabinet-- maybe he is the cabinet. :rommie:

I never thought of the possibility for who August is, but it is an interesting way to work the character into the story.

It looks like they're going there. :wtf:

Where, you might ask? Click here for the spoilery scoop. Or just wait till April 29. :D

Wow, took me totally surprised, I've been thinking August was going to be revealed as "Bae, The Bard", what with his connection to the book, and even adding a story into it. And, the previews actually cemented that, I gotta watch the episode and the previews again, to see how kept me going down that path. I didn't even pick up on the hints like not lying and the Shin Splints, very cleverly hidden in plain site.

And...Oh, Tony Amendola is going to be Gepetto, how cool, Tony Amendola is always a cool addition to any Guest cast :techman:

RJDIOGENES, interesting thought that he could be the actual cabinet, but, nah, I don't think he could be the actual cabinet, seems to me the cabinet is the big wooden box strapped to his motorcycle

That could be. I wonder if that old-fashioned typewriter has any significance.

I think Tony Amendola was already in some of the earlier episodes.

Hmmm....[rushes off to check IMDB]...you're right, both the 1st episode and the 5th :alienblush:

I think he was on the war council, or whatever the group was that was opposing The Queen in some of the Fairy Tale World stories.

Has anyone else seen the new promo they were running over the weekend during the Titanic mini-series. It promotes the final 4 episodes of the season. We have a close up of Regina tied up in the center of their "main street" by Granny's and all that. Emma is yelling at her saying YOU TOOK AWAY ALL OUR HAPPINESS...quick ban back to all the main and recurring characters of the season. I think some of the dwarves had torches. David and Mary Margaret are holding hands, and one of them hands Emma a sword and she wields it while saying NOW WE'RE GOING TO TAKE AWAY YOURS

The Pinocchio theory is looking good. August needs magic to live because he's not "really" a human being, and the original fix is about used up?

Since Baelfire (what a name!) went someplace without magic, our world is a properly plot convenient destination. What say we to Baelfire being the baby daddy? Gold as grandfather to Henry seems like the kind of soap opera twist serialized shows love. We could even speculate as to whether Regina knows, that she adopted Henry as reserve leverage on Gold? Or that Baelfire planted Henry in Storybrooke as a kind of time bomb?

I'm also wondering what the conversation August had with the nun, whether it was anything to do with magic.

I love the cast on this show. Robert Carlyle is amazing and Ginnifer Goodwin is so heartbreakingly sweet. Man I love this show.

Wow! I did not see the Pinocchio reveal although they were throwing the hints at us. August telling Emma that he does not lie was a hammer. Also, the way he worded what he said to Gold was brilliant. He just uttered the name “Papa” and used facts. He was not lying. He just let Rumple fill in the blanks.

I remember seeing TA as G before. He was there at the beginning and then featured in Archie’s back story was he not? He was the janitor in the jail when Emma got thrown in the clink with Leroy/Grumpy.

I assume that August added pages into the book to prompt Henry who would then influence Emma?

I love that Emma is all protective of MM. She looked like she was ready to kick Daddy David in the family jewels.

I wonder if the custody battle will bring Henry's father into the drama?

I'm thinking Baelfire is Henry's father as well. Like STJ said it's a twist a serialized drama like Once would do. It certainly would complicate things for Emma .

I could see that being a good finale - Emma gets a victory over Regina, we find out who Henry's father is, Rumplestiltskin gets his world shaken up a bit. It would set things up nicely for season 2.

They telegraphed that he was Pinnochio at the beginning of the episode, when he was jerking around in his sleep like a marionette. (Is his disease that he is turning into wood?) I was glad they didn't go for the painfully obvious idea that he was really Rumple's son (which is genetically implausible anyway, Eion Bailey and Robert Carlyle look nothing like each other.)

So now we know Bae is running around Earth but doesn't live in Storybrook - at least none of the characters so far plausibly map to him - so next season, be on the lookout for another dark-haired stranger. If the writers clever about it, they might be able to keep us in suspense until that inevitable day when the stranger plunges the dagger into Rumple's heart, draws it out, and it reads BAELFIRE.

They might have to rejigger the "magic" logic, but that scene is coming, it's irresistible...:rommie:

we find out who Henry's father is
It's gotta be Baelfire. Henry does look a bit like Rumples, doesn't he?

Maybe Bael is the kid that found Emma on the side of the road?

Emma seems to have a real aversion to Henry's father. Maybe Bael is not the sweet little angel Mr. Gold remembers? (If he turns out to be bio daddy.)

It would be funny if Gold facilitated the adoption of his own grandchild and dropped him in the lap of a women he seems to hate. (I can never figure out whether he hates her guts or not.)
