On Trump Era Politics...

If he wins again, I don't think I'll be able to continue to live in the US for his full term. Things are already awful, four more years of damage could make it impossible for me to live here.

Tends (for me) to come off as bias when no proof is ever given. Big reason I now completely discount the whole Trump - Russia thing is months and years go by and still it's supposition and could be and "well, everyone knows."

No. It's a lot more than supposition. Collusion happened. Mueller just couldn't say beyond a shadow of a doubt that Trump was involved and thus: here we are.

The legal limbo land of "He's probably not innocent but we can't just toss him out of office without ironclad proof of conspiracy." The lawyer's loophole to both say the defendant is full of B.S. and hiding their guilt about something but not call it an open-and-shut case.

Have you read the Mueller report?

Oh and Nationalism is horrific, it has no redeeming value and is always found in the worst atrocities. The fact that it has regained popularity now is nightmarish.

Trump is as transparent as Russian hooker urine in a darkly-illuminated Moscow hotel room.

Transparent like getting rid of 30000 emails, after being subpoenaed for them, bleaching a hard drive -shipping it 1/2 across the USA to do so.
Selling Uranium in the USA to the Russians.

I’ll ask you, too. Have you read the Mueller report?

I felt extreme anxiety when Trump was elected. Anxiety I would not have felt if McCain had won in 2008 or Romney had won in 2012, even though I didn't vote for them...

... but even as much as I dreaded Trump's election and would dread his re-election, I don't think we face extinction. That's an extremely hyperbolic overreaction. It could be worse. For one thing, John Bolton could've been President. Then we really would've been in trouble.
That was a reference to climate change.

Last time I looked, ocean levels haven't risen by twenty feet just yet. If we don't completely eliminate all green house gases in two years, we're all DOOMED !!!!!!!

Sea level rises are the least wortyi g thing about climate change.

Complete ecological collapse is the very very real threat that is happening right now this minute and would be the thing that kills us.

Just because it can take decades to fully manifest itself doesn't make that threat any less real or urgent.

That two years you laugh at is a very real concern in fact it may already be too late, especially in the oceans that are seeing mas die offs. Already plant and animal life is dying and it could very easily turn into a cascade of ecological failures.

Evil, no. Dumb, no. Racist, that

Concentration camps.

I rest my case.

For white, straight, cis men. Everyone else can't really ignore our problems so easily, problems mostly caused by white, straight, cis men.

Ahhh...this thread would be incomplete without some SJW cliches.

People don't bowl enough anymore.

And it is killing us.

Join a league. When you bowl, you meet people you wouldn't normally hang out with.
They'll see you as a person in tacky clothes and you will see the same.
you might even like them on some level.

You can bowl 10 pins, nine pins in Europe, five pins if you are Canadian and so inclined, duckpins and candlepins if you're in New England and just HAVE to be different.
We have evolved for the specific purpose of rolling a ball and knocking down things with it.
The Romans did it, and they were usually united. I suspect times of domestic upheaval during the Pax Romana correlated to a lack of bowling. Egyptians bowled and they hung in there for a long time. You could say it was due to their natural protective boundaries, cultural triumphs and agricultural consistency, but if we're honest, it was probably bowling.

No one listens to anyone and it breeds extremism, and the flavor of extremism these days is virulently on the right. But it would be just as bad were we locked in our rooms listening to Stalin, nodding to ourselves saying "he's right, you know that?" and letting that bowling bag get covered in dust in storage.

But there are still reasonable people hiding from the hedges. Who would like to have community and just interact with human beings instead of constantly listening to the echo chambers at their home.
We have to, as a world society (and we are a world society whether we like it or not) get out there and actualy interact with our fellow human beings. Yes it would be nice if we were all saints and put in 100 hours a week at the soup kitchen, hospice or free clinic, but realistically, bowl. In a league, don't wimp out.
