On Quinto: "He seems fruity, that guy." [Howard Stern interview]

Howard said on his show today that "Star Trek" is the best science fiction movie of all-time! He went on to say that J.J. successfully breathed new life into a stale franchise, something George Lucas tried and failed to do with Episodes 1-3 of Star Wars. Robin gushed about how good it was and was particularly taken with Chris Pine. Everyone else that saw it with them loved it too!

Did anyone else catch J.J. Abrams on Howard Stern this morning?

Sorry, no. I get enough exposure to mental and emotional immaturity dealing with customers at my job every day.

Apologies to any Stern fans here, but personally, I think the guy is a monumental jackass, and his cohorts on his show are about the same. He's never been funny, has failed to say anything that even vaguely indicates intelligence, is raunchy and foul-mouthed for no other reason than because he can and wants to be. Being raunchy and foul-mouthed works if you've got something intelligent to back it up, but if not, then you're just a vacuous jerk with minions clapping along like trained seals. No thanks.

So I guess you don't like Howard???? Isn't it great that when you don't like something you can just change the "dial" and poof it's gone!

Ah I can almost hear me dear old mum screaming at me now to turn down the radio with that "guttersnipe" on it...we fought about this practically every morning...oh she just hated him so...but I did catch her watching his show on Channel 9 (remember that with Kevin Keith Callenback LOL) and she'd quickly turn it off before I could bust her....but yeah leave it to Howard to ask the questions that no one else will!

wow. hmm.

"best science fiction movie of all time"?

nah.

And for you that would be???? Not making an issue, but I am quite sure not everyone is going to agree with your answer...we'll see

2001 :)

(runner up: Galaxy Quest). :p

actually, my favorite sci fi movie is TWOK. but it's not the best there is.

oh come on. there are SO MANY! how do we even choose?!

Man I miss hearing Stern. I wonder what George Takei's gaydar says about Quinto and Pine?

dunno for sure but mine doesn't go off with Pine at all. he's very... uh.. male

with Quinto, I think he's just not that sexual. he lives in his mind.

just my hunch.

Isn't that interesting?

I remember reading the late Joan Winston's book(about eight times), "The Making of The Trek Conventions" and somebody makes a similar comment about Shatner and Nimoy's "vibe" in front of an audience.

They say that when Shatner is up on stage there is almost this lust from the audience and the feeling that they want to tear his clothes off. However, with Nimoy, they are all hushed, as if they are having an audience with the Pope.

Just found the parallels to what Indranee wrote interesting.

I don't think it will be "the greatest science fiction film of all time," but I'm hoping it's Star Wars (77) and Indiana Jones (81) thrill ride good.

To be fair Howard Stern also said Wolverine was better than Iron Man.

...and we all know about that.

this is for Tulin:

you think they found *almost* exact matches, don't you?

I think so too.

:):)

You know? I agree with you right down the line!!! seriously!!

I see no harm whatever in remakes. They are often interesting, if not often good and they never cause the original films to vanish. What people like George Lucas do to their own past work is more problematic, IMAO.

you obviously didn't see Love Affair.

*weeps at the very thought*
