On Quinto: "He seems fruity, that guy." [Howard Stern interview]

Did anyone else catch J.J. Abrams on Howard Stern this morning?

Abrams basically crashed the Howard Stern show, looking to plug "Star Trek." Howard said that, since Abrams was extremely kind to his daughters back during the days of "Felicity," that Howard would do anything for him.

Howard spoke about how Quinto looked so much like Spock, and then asked Abrams (about Quinto):

Howard: "Does he get pussy, that guy?"

Abrams (somewhat awkwardly) responded: "Has he been on the show? You should ask him."

One of Howard's crew, Artie Lange, responded: "He seems fruity, that guy."

When the conversation turned to Pine, Artie responded: "Is he a gay guy, as well?"

These are the hard-hitting questions that you just don't hear on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

Howard and crew were going to see a free screening of "Star Trek" right after today's show, so it should be interesting to see what they say about it tomorrow. Pretty much everyone was really looking forward to the film.

Abrams said that he didn't expect to do "Wolverine" numbers on opening weekend. He would be happy with anything near $50 million. Howard predicted a $79 million opening. Abrams said he would do anything for that to be true, including (at Howard's suggestion) blow Howard.

Let's hope he's right. :techman:

I'm not gay... but Pine or Quinto could flip me. Hell, if it were both there wouldn't be a 'could'.

I'm pretty sure Quinto is gay.

I haven't seen it written anywhere, but if I had to guess, I would say gay.

I had to laugh when Artie was so blunt about it.

So Howard wants to know if Quinto and Pine are gay before asking JJ Abrams to blow him?

Sounds about right, sometimes I wish I had sat radio, I miss Howard sometimes.

And then "Well, are they gay for each other?" Great interview, funny beginning too. "SOMEONE TELL HIM I'M RUNNING LATE!! J J, I'M RUNNING LATE, IT'S 10:00a, I HAVE PLACES TO BE, YOU ARRIVED LATE, GTFO HERE!!" before immediately calling for him to take a seat.

Sorry, no. I get enough exposure to mental and emotional immaturity dealing with customers at my job every day.

Apologies to any Stern fans here, but personally, I think the guy is a monumental jackass, and his cohorts on his show are about the same. He's never been funny, has failed to say anything that even vaguely indicates intelligence, is raunchy and foul-mouthed for no other reason than because he can and wants to be. Being raunchy and foul-mouthed works if you've got something intelligent to back it up, but if not, then you're just a vacuous jerk with minions clapping along like trained seals. No thanks.

If Trek meets or exceeds "Wolverine"'s take for opening weekend, I will be grinning from ear to ear for a couple days straight. All the advance word on "Wolverine" was bad, yet it made that money. With "Trek"'s advance word being so positive, I really hope it does better than $50 million!

If you can reliably make enough people on this planet laugh - or hell, even smile dependably - you can write your own ticket. Period, full stop.

Which reveals a more basic truth about "what it means to be human," BTW, than Star Trek has managed in forty-odd years.

What were NEMESIS's opening numbers? I hope XI beats it by some wide margin...

You've just summed up my opinion of Stern & Company very nicely, thank you. :) When he went to satellite radio I danced a little jig.

Because it caused you so much discomfort to not tune in to him when he was on broadcast? :guffaw: :guffaw: :guffaw:
