Well, that bus driver clearly acted unprofessionally. Certainly the public school system should be teaching American values and parents who want their kids to be taught prejudice should send them to the appropriate private school, but there's no excuse for an adult supervisor to call a kid a stupid little bigot. That should have resulted in disciplinary action.

As a general observation, there are those on both sides of the Atlantic who love to rail against political correctness and boast that they're saying the unthinkable, that they're free agents against thought police etc.

However, if someone says things that they disagree with - let's say, criticising US or UK troops or US or UK foreign policy, or criticising conservative icons like Reagan, Churchill, Thatcher or even less controversial figures like the Queen - these warriors for free speech will often be the first to rail against the offensiveness of such criticism and the vileness of liberal thinking.

He is still a great actor, and I'm looking forward to seeing in the next Star Trek Movie.

Pretty much, yes. There were two kinds of reaction to the Ft. Hood shooting. One side took a reasonable approach, and focused on the shooter being a soldier with a history of aggressive and disturbed behaviour. The other side focused on the Arab-sounding name, and started to froth at the mouth about being a "Muslim terror attack". This time the bigots got lucky (well, kinda: it was still the action of a single loony, estranged by his fellow soldiers and fuelled by a notorious terrorist, not the coordinated effort of the "Muslims"). Heh, it happens sometimes. A broken clock might tell you something about being right two times a day.

That because sometimes brown people are guilty, it's ok to be prejudiced about them.

Quieting the bus down to prevent fights is one thing, but bringing the kids back onto the bus after drop off for an alone chat is out of line. If she thought the kids were that bad then she should have told appropriate folks at the school to take up the issue if it warranted further action.

It's meant to prove that not everyone who dislikes political correctness just wants to slur minorities - that sometimes they do, in fact, have legitimate arguments.

The bus driver should, at the very least, be suspended for a bit. I'd be interested to know exactly what that girl said. Considering that that bus driver went out of her way to berate this girl, I have to wonder at said driver's bias.

You don't meet intolerance with hatred. You don't win people to your camp by bashing someone over the head with your own view. And you don't improve a person by telling her she should be isolated. The best weapon against intolerance is gradual exposure, not bullying. And that is what this bus driver did. She was a bully.

And that is no better than arrogant little snots who think that bullying someone who's gay, wearing the "wrong clothes," or anything else will change them.

I don't think there's much risk of that. He's played straight characters just as competently.

Actually, I found him to be quite a cypher in Heroes, and just whiney in Star Trek (but that seems to be the direction, since Kirk was so much worse in that regard).

American Horror is the first time I've really seen him inhabit a role. He may be limited as an actor.

Quinto is not at all "limited" as an actor. I'm glad I'm able to appreciate a fine actor like him.
