OMG LEGOS

Plecostomus

Commodore
My nephew got a set of legos for his birthday. Weird Uncle Brian (that's me) ended up almost biting his arm off when he tried to play with "his" legos. :D

:D Anyway over the past 10 days I've aquired almost 20,000 pieces (mostly Power Miners and Rock Raiders sets, some Space Police and Generic Bricks) and I've begun my Master Work.

Forget the lathe, forget the sheetmetal. I has LEGOS nao. :techman:

I'll get some pictures up shortly. My "master work" involves building a huge scale diorama mining scene on an alien planet.

...the wife as always is patient and understanding. She's also elected herself as Parts Sorter, she decided to seperate everything by color, size and shape for me and put them in big freezer-bags. Other than that she mostly shakes her head when she walks by my Lego Table. :D

Your supposed to wargame with them, Brik Wars.

Or not. Legos are more expensive than crack. They were pricey when I was young, now they are FIRE STATION $89.99.

I made this unnamed model as a background design the last time I built something. It was a rather spontaneous idea, but I'd like to think it came out rather well. :D I've been thinking about adding it to the fleet of my custom Trek race. It's essentially a small transport.

You might consider getting some of those plastic tool drawers for sorting and storing, the kind you can easily get at a department store. That's what I use, and they're perfect. I find it's good to have a mix of small and large drawers.

I don't care how old you are -- Legos are awesome as fuck and never grow old.

If you can land a wife that likes playing Legos with you, all the better.

That toy fanatic was TV's Captain Slow himself, James May. His series, James May's Toy Stories, is being screened on the BBC at the moment, including the episode where he builds the house.

The house itself was awesome, but sadly it was later demolished as they weren't allowed to keep it on the land used to build it.

I loved LEGO® as a kid - still love it today. Yet my transition from Boy™ to Man™ came at the exact moment LEGO® branched out to the City, Star Wars, Bionicles and other lines. I kind of feel I've missed out.

That said, I did thrive with the Technic line, which kept me busy during my childhood. :bolian:

Inevitably, though, I ended up making a great big starship out of all my bricks, which is still in one piece even today.

Is 'legos' a cross-the-pond thing? 'Legos' would get you some odd looks here, we use 'lego' as both singular and plural.

I made this:

Not 100% accurate, but best I could do with what I had.

The BBC are saving the Lego episode for Christmas.

One Lego would be a single piece/brick. Multiple pieces would be Legos.

Then again, you guys say "maths" instead of "math," so whatever.

Inconsistency is the mark of good language
I'd say it's stupid calling mathematics 'math' for much the same reason as you'd say calling lots of legos 'lego' is stupid.
