OMG, Jelly Babies!

Its been almost fifteen years since I've had Bassett's jellybabies. But a friend just got back from London and brought me a box. Good god I'd forgotten how addictive the little monsters are!

But now they're almost gone and I'm seriously tempted to order more online.

I love the black ones. :)

There are a couple of stores that carry Jelly Babies here in Denver. One is an English Tea room and they can also be found at Cost Plus Wearhouse. Since the latter is a chain store there might be one near you.

I can't eat them because I'm vegetarian.

And that's why the Doctor I play won't eat them on screen.

My local Price Chopper carries them.

They're a little pricey, so I only buy them when I'm feeling down.

I buy them a lot.

Last I looked there weren't any beef flavored jelly babies. ;)

If there's some animal byproduct buried in the recipe, wouldn't that more make you a vegan? Vegetarians as I understand it tend to avoid the overt meat products, while vegans tend to avoid anything that touched an animal.

Back on the main topic, here in Calgary we have a few British shops and candy shops that carry them. Some are Bassets and a few places also sell them loose by the scoop. In my opinion the only things more addictive than jelly babies are Clodhoppers and Nutella.

I'd certainly be interested in a link if anyone has one. The going rate seems to be $4 for a box.

Think I'll go for script writer, then Doctor, then regeneration, then showrunner. Then when I'm loved by absolutely everyone, I'll use my considerable power to get some decent Star Trek made. It's foolproof.

It's got gelatine in. Which is made of poor dead animals.

Those poor dead animals must be pissed.

Apart from the Master offering them to Lucy in Sound of Drums, they haven't made an appearence in the new series as the Doctor's favorite snack. (If anything, RTD's Doctors seem to have a preference for chips/french fries).

Granted, not all the classic Doctors used them. It's interesting that the Doctors considered the more serious-Hartnell, Pertwee, Davison-never used them; while the 'eccentric' Doctors-Troughton, Tom Baker, Colin Baker (In Trial of A Time Lord) McCoy(In the TV movie) and Mcgann did.

To my man flu muddled brain, these two statements from Bones has just made me laugh like a little school girl!

As for Jelly Beans, not a fan myself, I prefer Wine Gums or Jelly Beans - Not that I'm meant to really eat vast quantities of the sugary menace!

I'm glad my refusal to be party to the unnecessary suffering of animals is so amusing to so many of you.

I've never had a jelly baby, but dammit, now I want gummi bears. The sticky kind!

I was all ready to *Squee! Jelly Babies* thinking there had been an on-screen sighting in one of the trailers or something. Oh, well. OTOHm, I adore Jelly Babies; they are my sugar fix of choice.
