Spoilers OMG! I just realized

Unimatrix Q

McCoy must know about Discovery, as he carried Spock's katra for a time!

I wonder if he ever told Jim about Michael and/or Discovery ...

If Shatner ever makes a new Kirk novel, that might become a plot point :guffaw:
I'll have to leave that novel out to preserve my Kirk/Tilly Academy years headcanon :guffaw:
I mean, Gary Mitchell described him as a walking stack of books at the Academy; that seems like someone who would get along well with Tilly and learn something from her about enjoying life and never ever giving up...

He carried it but I don’t think he had access to all the memories within it. He had no idea he had it until he was told.

I've only ever been able to reconcile this quote by assuming that Gary Mitchell was as dumb as a sack of rocks
That's probably a better explanation, considering the Jim Kirk we all know. Still, I'm clinging to my headcanon of his Academy friendship with Tilly and nothing's gonna take that away from me

They both blocked it out... like how you probably blocked out The Final Frontier:

SPOCK: He reminds me of someone I knew in my youth.
McCOY: Why, Spock, I didn't know you had one.
SPOCK: I do not often think of the past.

But what is your exact basis for determining he must know about Discovery? A quick check reveals no evidence that katra transfer involves a complete and permanent memory dump, as opposed to a scenario where an alternate personality asserts itself periodically. I assume you have a particular quote or incident in mind?

Or, just maybe, the OP was being sarcastic.

I think T'Pau ran defrag on McCoy's brain during the mind transfer into Spock 3.0 on Mount Seleya
