Oldtimers, do you feel it?

They say time is the fire in which we burn.... well, that and canon. :bolian:

But anyway, I've often had to consult the mighty Memory Alpha - both to clarify small details I'd forgotten over the years, and just to reminisce on old episodes when the DVDs aren't handy.

I can still whip out a title from one TOS still + a whole lot of other trivia despite not having watched TOS as much as the others. I never had the encyclopedic knowledge for any of the other series. Sad to say I only remember the titles for my favorites. But TOS still sticks.

I've always kind of had a very similar problem. I never pay attention to tiles of TV shows. So when I started posting on Trek sites on the Internet everyone was referencing everything by a title and I was like "what episode is that?" I was constantly having to look up every episode. I don't think I even knew TNG had episode titles.

Thanks guys! I knew I could count on the members of the BBS for a good laugh. I feel a lot better.

My 18 year-old has been huge Trek fans since he was a toddler thanks to me. He can site chapter and verse (episodes and movies?) and he keeps sharp.

Well when I was first getting into fandom, we only had 78 episodes and the Animated Series to worry about - oh yeah, and Spock Must Die!

With five series (and accompanying novel series) plus eleven movies, yes, I have to rely on "outside help" when it comes to remembering things!

When I was at my peak of Trekkiness, I was in Middle School, and Star Trek: TNG was still on the air (6th/7th season). DS9 had just started, and my level of Trek knowledge was unassailable. We had our own Star Trek club and we ranked people by their level of Trek knowledge. I was a Fleet Admiral.

I could recite thousands of facts and figures right off the top of my head, correlate them with other episodes and add in random trivia from various novels (I had read most of them) that would confound my greatest detractors.

Today, I can remember most of the TOS episodes by name, most of the TNG episodes by name, about 1/3 of DS9's episodes by name, 5 or 6 VOY episodes, 2 or 3 ENT episodes, and I can still name all the details of all 11 movies. My knowledge extends to many books, the tech manuals and a few other offhand bits of information.

So I have lost quite a bit, but I still know a great deal. It does take me a while to get it to the fore of my brain, though.

I have no problem committing Trek related stuff to memory.

It's alot of real life I wish I could forget.
