Old Art - Double Sized Enterprise...

Since the new Ent is looking to be quite a bit larger than the older version, I thought I'd post some old art I did when the news of Abrams's involvement was first announced. It's not my best work (I did it mostly as a thought exercise & for laughs), but I think it's pretty funny that it might be closer to the truth than I originally thought.

The concept was: Same shape, but literally twice as big in terms of decks. How would it look? At the time I wasn't thinking they'd actually do something like this...shows what I know...

So anyway, here it is:

And no, I'm not that good, I changed the nacelle and bridge areas to look more like the trailer ship.

That dot behind the ship is a shuttle, btw.

Below is an older version partly based on the Gabe-prise. Actually, now that I think about it, I have Gabe to thank for this whole idea of re-scale...Forgot about that. Sorry about the low res & crappy quality work...I never meant to show anyone this thing.

CUTAWAY...ROOM FOR A FEW TENNIS COURTS THAR CAP'N!

Check out the size of the hangar and engineering bay. Plus I put in a Star-Wars-esque 'power shaft' through the neck. Hey, I was fooling around, Ok?

There's also a DS9-style public area up front in the saucer, a computer room 7 decks deep...

Well, since they're doing it, I can't wait to see what a serious professional effort will yeild for those spaces.

Unless the trailer scale is whack, then nevermind.

Close to the teaser's design. You just have to thicken the saucer itself. The pre production Cage 1964 design was the same thickness as the The Cage design, and would stay that way all through the Phase II movie, and Phase II tv series. it would finally change for the TMP design.

I am not big on your pylons they look better in the imageshack image. Then make the "Gabe cowl" bigger, and remove some of the grebling on the nacelle. Finally remove the 10 foward windows and I think you might have a really good approximation for the movie Enterprise.
