Okay, I just thought of something. Maybe we're thinking about this from the wrong direction. Perhaps we should be asking ourselves "How would Miles know that Charlotte has been on the Island before?" Is it because he "communicated" with someone who knew Charlotte in the past, who was also on the Island? If so, when did this "conversation" occur?

Well, he did seem to know Michael was using a fake name when he first saw him on the freighter...

So he can read more than just the dead I supose.

I am actually not agaist the fake name idea....I mean, Ben was originally Henry Gale in the initial meeting....Henry Gale was Dorothy's uncle's name in Wizard Of Oz, and his concocted storywas Oz-ish. Charlotte's name is C.S. Lewis, easily another false identity, but for what purpose, I couldn't say.
