Ok. What is the chance of a Picard spinoff?

A quick read does not seem to indicate the cuts are focused on production sides, at least at first. The initial targets are in the marketing department and legal department, so those cuts will be interesting. They are also looking at restructuring international strategies by using licensees to host content, so they might be scaling back their streaming offering to rely on other infrastructure, so cut costs there.

The article speculates that it could be selling off assets like Pluto, then leasing them to stream content. An interesting idea, and no doubt others will be like, "That's what they should have done in the first place!"

That's my lay business understanding.
For years, my father tried to get me to major in Business. I'm so glad I didn't. I would've flunked out.

Cutting out marketing hurts advertising from the way I'm looking at it. And cutting down on the legal department looks like it's just asking for trouble. Someone somewhere is going to sue them for something, and they won't be as well-equipped with those cuts. But what do I know? I guess I don't have the lobes...

True, there is room for another series; however, cost is an issue. The cost of a single episode is $8 to 10 million dollars. To put that into perspective, for a Star Trek: The Next Generation episode, the average cost was $1.3 million (or, in 2024 dollars, $3.6 million).
That’s probably why it's likely Legacy would be mostly, if not all, bottle episodes. And would have to be filmed in Toronto and used redressed sets built for SNW and SFA.

I think one of the biggest things with Legacy to be figured out is: will there be a VOY reunion season, that will be along the lines of PIC S3?

I’m sure there are VOY fans that would love a do-over on “Endgame” and the general concept of Voyager. Especially now that there is no Borg to worry about anymore.

If they decided to do a season, would any of the VOY cast have preferences for Legacy to be filmed in LA?

PICARD must have done something right... the series ended over a year ago and more people are still talking about it (in a by and large positive way) than that other NuTrek series that ended a month ago...

What people would that be?

Beyond the Terry Cult, and people on this board just looking for something to talk about, I've seen virtually no mention of it.

Indeed. Poking around other Trek fan discussion places I see more chatter about rewatching through TNG, VOY or ENT.

I'm sure its out there. Just not that large.

Still comes up all the time on Twitter. Plus all the "access media" pieces on it. Some people here just seem to care very much... about not caring.

Well, I don't care about Twitter.

I don't know what "access media" means.

I don't care about popularity.

So, yes, I guess I do care about not caring.

If it happens more power to them. If not, live moves on.

c’est la vie.

For me, the characters and setting just weren't interesting enough to justify a spinoff series.

Dave Blass did say that he would change the G's interior here and there, so altering old SNW sets would be a cost-effective option. Depending, on course, of he is part of a potential spinoff.

I say 'old' sets based on the idea that it won't happen until SNW is over. Two Star Trek shows per year seems tragically optimistic, but it could be far far worse.

Literally a stranger EVERY WEEK that I go out will ask me what I thought of Picard season 3.

Talk to real people, it's amazing what they want to discuss when they see that you're a fan.

I (sarcastically) love some people's mentality of "I don't see it, so it doesn't exist".
