Re: Ok Trekkers, Don't Forget To Sign Up For Mandatory Obamacare Oct 1

If a clean bill was presented before the house, the Tea Party members would be able to vote No to the bill. They might lose but that's demorcay at work.

They want to delay certain provisions of the PPACA for a year, does anyone here really think that come 2014, they wouldn't try delaying them again for another year, then the same story in 2015?
That's an unsatisfactory argument.

Can't you say the same for the over 1000 waivers given (unlawfully) and that delay in for the businesses as well?
Why don't you use multi-quote?

Re: Ok Trekkers, Don't Forget To Sign Up For Mandatory Obamacare Oct 1

Why can't laws be phased in? from 2013 it affects X sector, from 2014 in addition to affecting X sector, it now also affects Y sector.

And how is my argument unsatisfactory.

Would a clean bill pass the US House or Representives or not if it was presented today?

And can you say with 100% certantity that the Tea Party members wouldn't want to see if they can delay the PPACA again in 2014?

Of course not.

But the argument is one sided.

Read this, it's NOT just the TEA PArty.

The DEMS are the ones that WILL NOT compromise. That's a simple fact. They won't even talk.

So go ahead, blame the Republicans if it makes you feel better.

Even the left wing media is catching on.

Re: Ok Trekkers, Don't Forget To Sign Up For Mandatory Obamacare Oct 1

Lets throw something out there, would the Republican's be willing to compromise on gun control in the USA if the Democrats asked for it be a condition of talks on a compromise?

And I'll let a mod explain why people should really use the multi-quote function.

Re: Ok Trekkers, Don't Forget To Sign Up For Mandatory Obamacare Oct 1

Compromise with the Hard Right and the Tea Party would be like agreeing to let them crash your car into a brick wall on the condition that they won't bother anything in the glove compartment.

And then they'll still go on national television and complain that the liberals wouldn't let patriotic Americans see what's in the glove compartment.

Screw that.

That would be unconstitutional. :)

I haven't been posting here long. If it makes it easier to read, or is preferred by rule or the mods I'm fine with it.

Yes, considering I already gave a verbal admonition and two infractions to another poster in this very thread for not using it and spamming excessively, and I gave you a friendly admonition about it just yesterday. Not to mention several other posters have mentioned it as well. So it doesn't really pass the smell test to say you were unaware of the requests.

All your posts above are just from this page, and consist of numerous one-liner drive-by comments in consecutive posts or a series of posts in short order that could have been consolidated into one. You are monopolizing the entire thread, drowning out discussion by sheer volume of posts, many (if not most) of which are lacking in debatable content.

Infraction for spamming. Comments to PM.

So that would be a no, then.

Besides I might be mistaken but doesn't the USA already have some controls on guns (which can vary from state to state), i.e. permits, waiting times, background checks, etc..

Compromise is about both sides not getting excatly what they want, have the Republican's placed anything on the table that they are willing to compromise on in return for the Democrat's compromising on the PPACA?

Re: Ok Trekkers, Don't Forget To Sign Up For Mandatory Obamacare Oct 1

What is it about conservative posters that they consistently refuse to use the Multi-Quote function? Is it because the Founding Fathers chose not to include it in the Constitution? Is it because it was originally a socialist program designed to consolidate individual freedom-loving posts into one big bloated entity? Is it because the board software was secretly developed in Kenya and given fake licensing in America?

Yanks, your posts alone represent about a third of the posts on this page, they're as often as not just one or two line sarcastic or cliche replies with little in the way of debatable content, and they're frequently posted one right after another or in short succession. It's the internet equivalent of shouting down the opposition to drown out their message. Now, I get that it's a largely liberally slanted board, but that doesn't mean you have to overcompensate in the other direction by matching all of them post for post. Quality over quantity is key.

I've already had one poster flip out in this thread because I dared to ask him to use Multi-Quote, and I wasn't even using all this colorful political language to ask then (didn't stop him from accusing me of bias anyway). So I'm pretty sure you are aware of the function and that we want it to be used in lieu of a bunch of short or consecutive posts. If not, I can show you how to use it.

So, in conclusion, please consolidate your posts with Multi-Quote as often as possible in the future. Thank you.

My apologies. I just saw this.

A poster made a video and showed me how to use it.

I guess it's a conservative thing.

I'll use it in the future.

Compromise is about both sides not getting exactly what they want, have the Republican's placed anything on the table that they are willing to compromise on in return for the Democrat's compromising on the PPACA?

Yes they have.

Four of them that weren't even considered by the Senate or POTUS.

The last just had delaying the ACA mandate for one year just like the businesses received.

But that's just unreasonable I guess.

It looks like the Democrats will only accept exactly what they want.

Don't know if I should have waited for more posts before I responded or not. Sorry if I should have.

Re: Ok Trekkers, Don't Forget To Sign Up For Mandatory Obamacare Oct 1

Knock 200 billion off the Defense Department.

This just might be the only thing I've read of yours that I actually agree with.

For starters, some unimportant little stuff like policy regarding safe handling of nuclear material. (Oops, sorry, eddie, I was writing at the same time you were.)

Institute the Fair Tax and eliminate the IRS.

Someone still has to administer and collect this so-called Fair Tax. If the IRS were abolished, they would just create a new agency or expand the duties of another.

So, the DOW does do something

Aside from that, I'll bet there is TONS of room to slash.

You need to read up on the fair tax.

I've read plenty about it. No matter how much simpler the Fair Tax or any other tax reform might make the tax system, some bureaucrats somewhere (maybe not as many as now, but some) still have to administer it. And nothing I've read about the Fair Tax movement says otherwise.

It boggles the mind, doesn't it?

Re: Ok Trekkers, Don't Forget To Sign Up For Mandatory Obamacare Oct 1

Yes, abolish the Department of Energy - without even knowing what it does. Great plan.

Nope. As the existing gun control measures in place have proven.

Besides I might be mistaken but doesn't the USA already have some controls on guns (which can vary from state to state), i.e. permits, waiting times, background checks, etc..

You aren't mistaken.

That touches on a great point, really. Conservatives love to go on about what they'd abolish, given their druthers. It's interesting how they tend not to know anything about what it is they would get rid of. "I don't know what the government does, but I'm sure it's not good, so trash it!" It's like ignorance is a point of pride for some people.

"Close the government!"

::hours later::

"What?! Closing the Federal government includes federal parks and federal medical research/treatment facilities?!"

Re: Ok Trekkers, Don't Forget To Sign Up For Mandatory Obamacare Oct 1

All Yanks or any other right-winger has to do is Google or Wiki the Department of Energy. It's not a colossal blow-by-blow description the length of a Tolstoy novel, but the Wiki page on the DOE gives a pretty detailed and very good rundown of what the department does and the responsibilities and power it wields as a part of the executive branch of the federal government.

Most conservatives and libertarians who decry and despise these government departments don't give details of why they want them abolished, only that it's "more bloated Big Government bureaucracy," "it's not in the Constitution" and so forth and so on. It all boils down to government = bad thing and not in the Constitution = even worse thing. Little more than that. It's just partisan bumper sticker slogan politics for people who live on sound bites.

It all boils down to "get rid of all government, except the parts we like."

Re: Ok Trekkers, Don't Forget To Sign Up For Mandatory Obamacare Oct 1

Always. Government is the enemy of the people!*

*Except for those parts that aren't and help me become wealthy and powerful and expand my personal influence while in office.
