First, if the woman was so broke that she could only afford one or the other, she'd have the option of food stamps, that can only be used to buy food, and which couldn't be spent on healthcare.

I disagree. People are finding out all over the country that their premiums will triple, just like the guy in the OP article. Obamacare was meant to break the middle class. Their will be many job losses over this as employers will have to lay off people or cut their hours. It is imperative that Obamacare not be funded. Hopefully patriots like Ted Cruz will succeed in his effort.

It would be pretty close to universal, if not for all the red states refusing the Medicaid expansion.

True I wish states weren't allowed to refuse it, unfortunately in my home state (WI) is doing just that making it hard for people to get any coverage if they fall in an income gap.

It's basically free money: the federal government offering the states funds to give, in turn, to the people who need it. In theory, democracy is what's supposed to prevent the states from refusing it, since it is so clearly against the interests of the states to do so. Unfortunately, conservative misinformation is so rampant these days that they can operate in a fact-free zone and not get punished for it.

Universal Health Care can be found in several countries, they are hardly socialist States. (of course there is always the exception to the rule). And even in those countries no one says it's not without its flaws.

No here is a question to those oppose the PPACA, hypothetically if your job didin't come with health care, yet you earned too much to qualify for Medicare. Yet not enough to pay for high insurance premiums. And you had an accident that needed medical care. Are you

Have you not seen the news? They've given up on that. It was never going to happen, it's blown up in the GOP's face and Cruz has been all but disowned by most of his Senate caucus. Obamacare is now polling as more popular than the Republican party (NBC/WSJ poll PDF):

It would be rather unusual since at the time health care was generally rather rudimentary - especially in many parts of Russia - and thus more affordable than it is today. Only very few countries at the time had anything like Universal Health Care (or rather, the beginnings of it). And they weren't socialist which I'm sure Lenin was painfully aware of since one of the main problems of the early Soviet Union was to find friends and allies.

I tolerated your thread so far in spite of your and others repeatedly factually inaccurate and hyperbolic comments because buried beneath all the asinine posts were people providing genuine information and even a few people who were hesitant about or opposed to Obamacare but were at least willing to learn, listen, and discuss things reasonably.

But between your Obama birther nonsense (while calling Ted Cruz who actually wasn't born in the US an "American patriot"), the repetition of the same lies no matter how many times people post evidence discrediting them, the completely insane cries of communism and the death of freedom, the quantity over quality spamming by others, "Mr. I don't wanna work, I wanna bang on me drums all day", and the borderline insults back and forth (which I've been guilty of too), I've had enough of this dog of a thread.
