If you hate things that are popular you should LOVE Arrested Development. After all, nobody watched it, that's why it got cancelled
Great show though.
I'll just go ahead and take a pass on this one.
I was going to check this series out, but based on the comments in this thread, I've booted it off my Netflix queue. There are just too many shows that hit the ground running for me to spend time with a show that doesn't. Makes more sense to move on to the likes of Mad Men, Six Feet Under and The Sopranos (yes, I've never seen The Sopranos).
One thing I've learned from this place is that unless the raves are pretty much unanimous (Dexter, Deadwood), I'm bound to be disappointed.
I mean, just look at Charlie Jade. I can't believe anyone would promote that show. What a pile of boring, derivative junk.

One thing I've learned from this place is that a lot of people here have really shitty senses of humor, so I tend to ignore things they say with regard to comedy.
I feel that Arrested Development does hit the ground running. You just need the right sense of humor or you aren't going to like the show.
Try watching it on Hulu, I believe they have every episode.
I guess that explains the AD fans.
That was worded well. A lot of AD fans piss me off and stop new people from watching the show because they go "If you don't like AD than it's too smart of a show for you". That might not be the case, might not just like that style and how you worded it was much better.
And yes every episode is on Hulu.

From seeing around here what your other tastes are, you will dig Arrested Development. When we say it starts slow we're not talking Enterprise Seasons one through three slow. It's more like season one of AD is like a regular sitcom and seasons 2 and 3 are an amazing sitcom.
Hell, I'd go so far as to say Disk One is like a regular sitcom.
I knew the show had found itself when Micheal hit *Somebody* in the face with *Something* and said "Well, that was my plan, what's yours?"

Later they're talking in front of their mother (the excellent Jessica Walter) and GOB is about to leave and Michael says "but what are we going to do about the Seaward?" and Mama Bluth says "I'm standing RIGHT HERE, Michael!" (or words to that effect).
(Say it out loud if you don't get it...and if you still don't, see you next Tuesday.)

When we first saw it, I got it right away. I replayed it for my buddy and then HE got it right away.
The show is jam packed with amazingly graphic sexual innuendo couched in the most innocent terms, it's quite brilliant. I don't know how they come up with the stuff!
The other amazing thing is how many connections and callbacks are laced throughout the show. Like how Buster has his incident with a seal...a loose seal... and his mother is Lucille... Or all the permutations of MRF...
