Oh woe, 30.

I think everyone in here is putting me to shame with weird and wonderful avatars with owls in hats and stuff. However, since mine is DeForest Kelley, I don't plan to change it :) but thanks to the rest of younger for mentally lowering my age :D

I didn't care that much when I turned 30...*or* 40. I sure don't feel old. I figure as long as I have my life and my health, I came out ahead.
Exactly.
I think I discovered my problem: I don't consume enough alcohol. Ale cures all that ails.

In any case, my flirt with my inner emo got a good kick in the ass today when my aunt got hit by a car. She's okay, just some nicked bones and bruised ribs, but still... one of those things.

She was hit by a 16 year old on her phone. So one thing, if 30 is the new 20, can we bump the driving age up to 26?
I did not see this before posting above. My heart goes out to your aunt and family. I lost my soul mate to a distracted driver. Our lives are forever changed by someone carelessly texting and driving.

Turning 30 wasn't a huge deal for me. Interestingly, it was a bigger deal than turning 40, which was nothing. I still feel younger than either age. I hope that can continue!

Embrace 30 as being young and alive.

I am 4 months from 51, and my fifties terrify me. My father passed away at age 52 and his father at age 56.

My life goal right now is to live longer than my father.... baby steps.

Turned 30 today.

Having a tough go of it. :(

In fact the last week or so has been all around bad. Haven't been able eat much, sleep, etc.

Why is one silly little # such a big deal?
Would this be a good time to point out that turning 30 is better than the alternative?

What, being 21? Well I guess it is. You sure as heck are a lot smarter at 30. But I would take the youthful goods looks and exuberance over wisdom any day.

I'm not thrilled about my age right now but I think it's just because I'm surrounded by people much younger and I'm frustrated by the amount of time that grad school will take. But I don't get seriously upset, and I think by the time I'm 30 I'll be happy with my age again.

I guess I had a relaxed attitude towards getting older because of my ridiculous voice that always makes me sound old anyway. Even when I was in high school I had this deep bass voice that sounded like I swallowed marbles. The only thing I can do with my voice that doesn't make me sound like a 45 rpm single played at 33, is sing this:

Kestra, you're doing just fine. You're still young, you know what you want to do, and you're making it happen! :techman:

Enjoy this time in your life, it only happens once!
