Oh woe, 30.

The decade milestones are definetely the worst.. But at 30, you're still very young.. This coming from a soon to be 41 year old who still feels a LOT younger than he probably should.

The one thing that bugs me is that even at 40 I still have a lot of people around me at work who are in their late 40s and 50s, who, upon hearing how old I am, say "Oh you're still just a baby"... GOD I hate that..

My brother, who is 16 years my elder still treats me like a little kid sometimes, which drives me abso-bonkers...

I turn 29 this year and I'm really really not looking forward to 2012...

I feel for you!

But I wish you a happy birthday nonetheless. Celebrate!

This makes me think of my favorite line from the movie "Fight Club". Ed Norton says, "I'm a 30 year old boy" and now, at 40 I still feel the same. I don't feel any much different than I did so long ago.

30 is the new 20! :)

I'm not quite there yet (Sep 2012 is my big 30), but certainly since I hit 25 I haven't been as enthused about my birthday. The problem is that everyone I work with is much older than me (usually by about 20 years!) so when I complain about getting a year older they feel like I'm rubbing in the fact I'm younger than them.

When I started working here 2 years ago, someone said "so, what are you, about 22"... should have just lied and agreed with them!

I think I discovered my problem: I don't consume enough alcohol. Ale cures all that ails.

In any case, my flirt with my inner emo got a good kick in the ass today when my aunt got hit by a car. She's okay, just some nicked bones and bruised ribs, but still... one of those things.

She was hit by a 16 year old on her phone. So one thing, if 30 is the new 20, can we bump the driving age up to 26?

Actually 40 is the new 20. 30 is the new 10.

And all cell phone users should be hanged! Seriously, the law needs to come up with far more severe penalty for drivers with their damned cell phones. One of my friends has been in two accidents and been ticketed three times (all his fault), because he was surfing the net while driving.

And I sometimes have to rely on this guy to get me around....

And what's worse is, the woman in the car behind her told my mom that the girl got out of the car and continued to carry on her conversation for another three or four minutes as if nothing had happened. Who does that?

^Idiot selfish, uncaring people. Why are today's teens like that, much more than previous generations?

I turned 31 this year, and still love fart jokes and other immature things.
So does Mel Brooks, and he’s 84.

Thirty? Shit, you’re a youngster. I’m old enough to remember when cars didn’t have seatbelts, phones had dials, cigarettes were advertised on TV, and blacks were Negroes.

And I love a good fart joke.

With an avatar like that, I think we all know you like immature things! :guffaw: Not that there's anything wrong with your avatar. It made me :guffaw: Showed it to my 64 year old dad and he :guffaw: as well so I don't think there's any hope for me reaching any level of maturity at any point soon!

I'll hit the big 3-0 in about six months, and it is a little daunting. I feel like I haven't hit certain milestones or done certain things that one is expected to do by the time you hit this age. I look at my peers around me and many of them are now married with kids. I feel like there will be increased pressure to "settle down" and "start a family".

You do? I would have thought that sort of pressure isn't an issue anymore. At least not like it was a generation or two ago. People are more accepting of the non-traditional lifestyles these days.

Or so I thought.

Sounds about right. Despite the stuff I described that happened to my friend, he STILL looks at his phone while driving. I guess nothing short of death itself will teach him.

I just hope I'm not in the car with him when it happens.
