Oh Look - New Star Trek Is A Failure For CBSAA...(NOT!)

It is tragic how badly Star Trek is failing. They simply cannot stop producing new series. :-(

The odds are good, IMHO, that there will be a Pike series. There has been a report that filming is preparing in Ontario for a new series, and Romijn has hinted in an interview that she will be involved in Star Trek. Beyond that, a Pike series does make commercial and creative sense.

This is truly a golden age for Trek. I am glad to see it.

The Second Golden Age, for certain.

1986: ST IV: The Voyage Home
1987: STNG Premiers
1989: ST V: Final Frontier
1991: ST VI: The Undiscovered Country
1993: January: DS9 premieres
1994: May. TNG finale.
1994: November. ST: Generations
1995: Jan. Voyager premiere
1996: ST: First Contact
1998: ST: Insurrection
1999: DS9 finale.
2001: May: Voyager finale.
2001: September. Enterprise premiere.

That is a hellava 16 year run. 6 feature films, 3 each from TOS & TNG. 4 different TV shows with 22 combined seasons.

You can stretch it to include Nemesis and the end of Enterprise if you wish. From 1993 to 1999 there were 2 shows on (for free) and movies coming out.

Doesn't "golden age" also involve audience counts? The 80s and 90s (the 2nd golden age, if not the 1st) got higher audience counts. 25 million vs 1.5 million... for what its worth, since 50 million smokers can't be wrong either... in terms of new series count there arguably is a new "golden age"...
