Oh, for Pete's Sake: They're actually filming the Potter 7 epilogue

Will YOU make a break for the exit once the epilogue comes on?

  • No, the epilogue rocks! Only a cameo by Jar-Jar could possibly improve upon it.

  • Heck, yes! I'll have had my fill of Emma Watson in upconverted 3D by then, and am not a masochist.

Re: Oh, for Pete's Sake: They're actually filming the Potter 7 epilogu

Ron and Ginny are brother, and Sister so they wont be married to each other however Harry has also saved Ginny at least twice I think therefore it would seem a better match in the begining of the films, and the books I had thought Ron would be with the asian student or the indian female student, and Harry and Hermione would pair up,and Ginny would pair up with Longbottom.
I've seen the clip that everybody is talking about, and it makes perfect sense to show the characters older, and that they have families it gives a good ending to a great series of books.
Now I heard that Rolling is taking on a new book that goes further than the epiloge at the end of book seven.
Any takers on this bit of news?

Re: Oh, for Pete's Sake: They're actually filming the Potter 7 epilogu

Harry/Hermione could never have worked from a pure storytelling perspective because at that point Ron becomes irrelevant. One could argue that he already is, essentially. Harry is the chosen one, Hermione is the clever one with all the brilliant ideas, Ron... plays chess... and... means well :(

Having him be Hermione's love interest basically salvages a role for him in the story, so he was the obvious choice from the beginning on this basis alone.

As for the epilogue, I would agree that it was *ahem* underwhelming. However, I'm not surprised that it is being filmed, since not filming it would be akin to condemning it, a position the producers of this film are unlikely to endorse.

^^ A good point... and a good argument, incidentally, for Ron's heroic and tragic demise...

Re: Oh, for Pete's Sake: They're actually filming the Potter 7 epilogu

Ron's the normal one, and Harry's closest friend; that's a story role, if not a lead part.

Re: Oh, for Pete's Sake: They're actually filming the Potter 7 epilogu

It is possible for men and women to have very close purely platonic relationships with one another which is what Hermione and Harry have...it is also possible for someone like Hermione to grow feelings for someone unexpected like Ron through crazy adventures and stressful situations. The two have been through a great deal together and come to mutual respect one another. Harry and Ginny ending up together was maybe something first hinted at when he saves her all the way back in the Chamber of Secrets. I enjoyed reading the progression of these relationships and don't feel like they're out of place for the characters.

I'm definitely going to get a Ron / Ginny 'shipper movement going.

EDIT: Just checked Google and there already is one!

Ron's the normal one, and Harry's closest friend; that's a story role, if not a lead part.

However, Ron is a lead part, one of the three main characters the story is built around. If Harry and Hermione get involved romantically, he is relegated to incredibly awkward third-wheel status who tags along until his more talented friends feel like "snogging," at which point he has to go hang out with Neville over at the "it might have been you, but it wasn't" table in the great hall ;)

Whatever, perhaps I'm just missing something here, but I don't think Harry and Hermione getting together was ever a serious option.

LoL :techman:

Personally, I never saw Harry/Hermione in the books; they always seemed more like brother and sister than potential lovers. Whereas I could tell from The Prisoner of Azkaban onwards that Rowling was going to have Hermione and Ron hook up. And there was already heavy foreshadowing that Harry and Ginny would get together from The Philosopher's Stone.

I do agree that Radcliffe and Watson had better chemistry together than Watson and Gint in the first five movies. However, Gint and Watson became believable in The Half-Blood Prince.

Nope, just you. Though since I can't recall a single mention of sex in all seven books (for all we know, wizarding babies are actually delivered via stork), Rowling herself may feel the same way. :)

Is it just me or does that word, in an HP thread, make anyone else shudder?

I'm sorry, what other word would you use to describe two older teenagers? Especially since the word "lovers" does not inherently refer to people who are having sex; it can simply refer to people who, y'know, love each other.

Re: Oh, for Pete's Sake: They're actually filming the Potter 7 epilogu

Ah well... if it's in the book, stick it in the film.

After the way they cocked-up the film version of Order of the Phoenix this new development can't be anywhere near as bad as people seem to be making out...

Re: Oh, for Pete's Sake: They're actually filming the Potter 7 epilogu

Some of us are pretty darn close to her age, if not exactly her age, so no need to jump to any conclusions, imo. ;)

Re: Oh, for Pete's Sake: They're actually filming the Potter 7 epilogu

Yeah, that was a pretty silly comment Raytas (not wanting to insult you of course ;)).

Re: Oh, for Pete's Sake: They're actually filming the Potter 7 epilogu

What I found particularly creepy was the lusting after Emma Watson around the time the first movie was released. :cardie:
Yeah, that 's a bit creepy. Everyone knows she didn't get hot until Chamber Of Secrets.
