Oh, (Big) Brother!

Players like Dan and Will, when they made a move, never burned their bridges with the other side. So when they got in a bad position they could go to anybody in the house and talk to them to try to get themselves out of it.

Glad to see Paulie gone, but me thinks he'll be back on the jury buy-back and taken to the final two because "no one will vote for him."

All these second chances are getting annoying. There's a reason these people were voted out.

There's a jury member coming back in? In ADDITION to the round trip ticket?

WTF?! Three second chances in the same season?

The whole "expect the unexpected" thing is tired. The round trip ticket, while intriguing, was pretty much ignored by the house (no one's vote was swayed by it). The Battle Back was something new, but it has the potential to be used over and over and over again and become tired.

So other than an early start to yet another yucky HoH competition, what was the point of Friday's episode? The "concert" consisted of one song, and most of the episode was just a clip show, reminiscing about people who are long-gone from the house.

I call Battle Back 'Bedemption Bisland'.

The producers don't seem to understand BB is most fun when the players make clever use of the known core mechanics of the game. Sudden rule changes aren't entertaining and get in the way.

I would agree with you, except that she made it very clear that if she wins the veto competition, she's pulling Victor down and putting up Nicole. She didn't capitulate, so much as gamble that either she or Victor can win the veto, and she'll do what she wanted in the first place.

At this point, they should be trying to get rid of Victor, Paul, and Corey.

Right now, I'd be happy with either James or Natalie winning (Natalie hasn't said anything vile they're not showing, has she?).

Bet you if Natalie makes it to the final, all the credit for her strategic victories is given to her male ally just like half the Survivor seasons.

Even if Victor is vetoed for Nicole, Nicole is safe. Three votes, Victor, James, Corey. Even if Michelle gets a vote due to how she got HoH, that's still 2-2 with Natalie breaking ties.

Wow, where was that arrogant misogynist jerk the first six weeks? Was he keeping it in check because he wasn't feeling in charge or was CBS just not showing it to us? James might be the only one left to root for. Paul is becoming a little more rootable.

CBS wasn't showing it to us. Paulie wasn't so bad for the first couple of weeks (when he had no power), but he soon became a real douchebag, speaking very personally about people. He has disliked Natalie for quite a while and makes fun of her breasts often (he and a few other guys call them "FTs" for 'fake tits' and even say it in front of her and then laugh about it later). It was also pretty despicable the way he treated Zakiyah, though she is certainly not innocent in the matter. She was overly jealous and way too attached, and he was clearly playing her. Even after they would have their petty arguments where he would belittle her, they would then go have sex. We know they had sex four times because 1. a couple of those times were on feeds, and 2. Paulie bragged about it after she left, and how he would push her face away when she wanted to kiss him during it.

Nicole has basic game competence but her attachment to Corey makes her hard to root for this season. I don't have a good sense of Natalie, the camera hasn't really spent a lot of time on her until yesterday.

Natalie actually had a lot to do with the turn on Paulie. They make it look like it was all Bridgette, but it was a team effort. Natalie was instrumental in convincing James that he couldn't trust Paulie, and in fact had been planting that idea to James for a few weeks now. At the beginning of the week James was squarely on Paulie's side and evicting Michelle, by the end of the week Natalie had convinced him to vote the other way.

So other than an early start to yet another yucky HoH competition, what was the point of Friday's episode? The "concert" consisted of one song, and most of the episode was just a clip show, reminiscing about people who are long-gone from the house.

My guess is that CBS gave them two extra episodes this season to take place on those pre-assigned Fridays, and BB chose to fill them however they saw fit. The first one was the Battle Back, this one was a lame concert. What's funny is that the concert was filmed before Paulie's eviction, and they cleverly edited him out (though you can see his hands in a couple of shots).

Natalie is emerging as the best social/strategic player. The way she managed Michelle was impressive.

Natalie has been my favorite for most of the season. Every HG has their haters online who will pick apart anything they say, so I'm sure you can find someone who is deeply offended by something Natalie has said, but on the whole I find her to be the most genuine and kind of the HGs left. However that doesn't mean she is letting people drag her along to the end - she is definitely strategizing, more so than James certainly. Paul is also strategic and while he can be offensive at times, I also think he's a very smart and interesting player who is in danger of going home this week.

Kind of crazy that Victor was able to battle his way back into the house twice in one season. I bet that's the first and last time we'll see that! I don't know exactly how I feel about it. Victor is good at competitions (clearly) but otherwise I find him boring as a houseguest. However, I do find myself leaning more towards wanting Paul to succeed, and Victor is aligned with Paul, so I'm not disappointed to see Victor return. Also, I'm really just glad it's anyone but Paulie or Zakiyah! I'm not gonna lie, I would have preferred to see Bridgette or Day come back. Day is not a good game player but she is highly entertaining.

I still don't like some of the things that Paul has said and done throughout the season, but he's the one I'm rooting for right now. He is actually playing the most strategically of anyone left in the house and has a good sense for what's happening around him. It was very wise of him to buddy up to Nicorey last week. Natalie has some strategic leanings as well, though I feel she is hampered by James, who likes to stay as low-key as possible. I understand wanting to lay low, but that strategy really only works well for the first 2/3rds of the game. Now that we are moving beyond that, I think all of the HGs need to be more willing to take risks.

And Michelle, she's just nuts. She had a huge crying fit yesterday over her room back home. She suddenly became obsessed with the idea that her sisters are taking over her room, touching all of her stuff, and ruining her clothes. What a bizarre thing to be worried about, especially when she's on the block and should be focused on the game. Sadly, although Michelle claims to be a superfan she seems to care little for the actual game and has stated repeatedly that she just likes hanging out doing nothing all summer, and doesn't want to leave because she doesn't want to have to face real life again.

I have no fricken' clue how Corey won that care package. I can't imagine he is actually more popular than Victor or Paul with the fans. Corey does nothing, literally just lays in bed with Nicole and barely speaks. He has less personality than a cardboard box. The few times he does speak up don't work in his favor, like when he backed Paulie's rant against Natalie or when he talked earlier in the season about the hilarious time that he and his friends tried to light a frightened goat on fire. Victor may be a little boring and a neat freak, but he's nowhere near as bad as Corey.

This must be the last time they have all these second chances, or at least make a rule that the same person can't win more than one second chance. As James said, there's a reason they were voted out. People who were evicted need to stay gone.

Speaking of James, he's an idiot. Giving up the HoH just so Nicole can get a letter from her mommy - and we never even got to see her read that all-important letter? This is probably a $500,000 mistake (yeah, I'm hoping for James to win).

What is with these people who whine and cry about a 3-month separation from their parents? How are they ever going to cope if they're in a situation where they don't see them for years?

Paul is vile, and Corey thinking that burning a goat is funny makes him a vile person, too. Does James know of all the racist things some of the other houseguests have said about him?

Paul is playing the game. It is unfortunate that he is playing with two pairs that are more interested in keeping a showmance safe than winning the money.

Yeah, what is with these people who can't deal with being away from their family? Have any of them been to college?
I shouldn't judge, since my RL background is a community where it's normal - or was up until a couple of decades ago - for three-generation households. Heck, even three of my cats were related that way, one per generation (yes, we did get them all fixed so there wasn't a fourth generation!). That said, the aforementioned background involved rural living where it's sometimes more practical for multi-generational households.

However, Paul's family doesn't look like they're stuck on a farm in the middle of a prairie, and I doubt that applies to any of the others, either.

I will admit that when you're used to having family around all the time, it can be very hard when they're not around. But these people went into Big Brother knowing that it could mean a 3-month separation. If they can't handle that, they shouldn't have applied.

Why is Michelle whining about her sisters "touching her stuff"? Are her sisters all teenagers or younger? Is she so disliked by her own family, or is she just paranoid?

All of the above. Her sisters are younger, with at least two of them being teenagers. She still lives in her parent's house and she's concerned that her sisters will raid her room. Michelle has made a few derogatory comments about her sisters and family throughout the season. What's funny/sad is that one of her sisters is running her Twitter account and often posts retaliation comments. For instance this week she said something like, "UR CLOTHES ARE UGLY WE DON'T WANT THEM" and earlier in the season when Michelle complained about how immature and bratty her sisters are, her sister used her Twitter account to write about how Michelle is the brattiest of them all and has been estranged from several family members because they can't stand her.

Also, she is really paranoid and an emotional rollercoaster, so she finds something new to flip out about almost every day.

So she's Vanessa, taken to a higher level of paranoia, but without the strategic skills? How could she not realize this would all get back to her family?

(I don't have access to the feeds, so I don't know if Vanessa ever said bad stuff about her family)

Seems they found a really unlikable bunch of contestants this year.
