Oh, (Big) Brother!

It's really outside. In the first few seasons people would pay private aircraft to fly over it with banners, since then they control the airspace overhead. In season two there was a plane that said something like 'Nicole betrays husband in hot tub' and she paranoided out that it came from her husband for the rest of the season.

The grass never appears to grow because at night they have it on lockdown and they have a landscaping crew come in and do their thing.

So the grass is real, and they mow it at night?

I would go stark raving nuts if I couldn't see outside at night. There's a lot of light pollution where I live, but at least I can see the Moon and the brighter stars and planets.

Actually I don't know if the grass is real. It looks convincing on TV but you think they'd damage real grass with all the stuff they do outside for comps.

The grass in the backyard is fake, sometimes on the feeds you will see them complain about how hot it gets in the sun. The backyard really is outside, but has very high walls, which is probably why you don't see any wind. It does rain where they are in California in the winter, but very rarely in the summer. I think it rained for a couple of days last season. They do go out there a lot at night, there are just lights everywhere for the cameras so it doesn't appear to be very dark.

So, who's going home tomorrow: Cody's brother, Big Brother Messiah, or star of One Day at a Time, Valerie Bertinelli?

I don't care about Bridget, either way at this point. She's not obnoxious... yet. Jozea will hopefully be the one to go, because he's just disgusting.

I wonder if Frank put Bridget up to preserve the suspicion that Michelle won the Road Kill competition.

BTW, I had to laugh at Nicole's line: "This Road Kill Ceremony is adjourned."

Every time you think Jozea can't get any worse, he throws something worse out there. As with James sneaking into his meeting, well, more just walking in and hanging out while Jozea rambled on, the guy seems to have no sense about how to play the game. It's like he and Paul were recruited and just told to go in there and be completely bonkers for entertainment value.

I was not sad to see Glenn go. He was easily going to get on my nerves quick because he's doing this for his family and that point would be repeated in every diary session, every competition. It's not his fault at the end of the day, but he won't be missed.

It seems counter-intuitive, but older people seem to do better at Survivor than at Big Brother.

I think that is because there are more old people on Survivor. It's not one 40 year old and a ton of 23 year olds.

I wasn't sad to see Glenn go because he seemed like a very negative person who would spend the whole season calling people the devil in the DR.

Yeah, Big Brother seems geared to younger people and eye-candy house guests who will draw people to watching TV during the summer instead of being outside.

I don't mind that as long as the mind inside the attractive body is reasonably intelligent and not nasty, obnoxious, or needlessly deceitful. But at the same time, it's been 30 years since I was 23. I like seeing older people competing on these shows, as long as the shows are structured to give them a fair chance and not make it obvious that they're only there for lip service to their age group.

I know that Survivor contestants have to pass a physical. Is that true of Big Brother, as well?

(All this said... I liked Glenn more than a few others, but am not surprised or particularly sorry that he was the first to go.)

So looks like they're doing Bedemption Bisland, oops I mean Battle Back.

I imagine Big Brother contestants have to prove they're not going to keel over from a heart attack or need medical attention, but I doubt the physical standards are as rigorous as Survivor. But, the attractiveness standards are higher.

Note to self: Do not check this thread until 11 pm on Thursdays, since BB isn't on until 10 pm in my time zone and there are still 2 hours to go.

Being evicted taught Jozea zilch.

Intuitively speaking, he may be the worst reader of other players in Big Brother history. Completely deluded and lacking in self-awareness, on every level.

I hope Glen trounces him in the BattleBack.

Or someone else does. This jerk should slither back to obscurity.

There's sure a lot of misogyny among the non-returning male house guests. And Victor has worn out his welcome. Anyone that nitpicky can go.

Did I hear correctly that one of the women slathered mayonnaise all over her face and didn't realize it wasn't her face cream? How do you not notice that sort of thing?

They're totally ripping off Redemption Island from Survivor, but I don't mind, I find it an interesting twist. The only part I don't like is that apparently they are only going to show us the Battle Back competitions all at once in a single "special episode" on Friday, July 22. I'd rather see it week to week.

It's hilarious that Jozea thinks Natalie betrayed him. Especially because Natalie found out that Jozea was leaving the night before and even though she knew voting with the house would be better for her game, she decided to vote Paulie out instead because she had already promised Jozea that she would do so and she didn't want to go back on her word.

Natalie is actually emerging as one of my favorites. She is very perceptive, genuinely kind, and is not on anyone's bad side. She has even admitted herself that she just got caught up on the wrong side of the house and with an alliance that she didn't really feel good about.

Paulie ended up winning HOH. We didn't get to see the end of the competition on feeds, so I don't know exactly how the HOH was chosen (I'm assuming it's like last week where the winning team chose from themselves). It's an interesting winner because while Paulie has sort of been working with the bigger alliance in the house, he's not officially a part of their "8 pack," but he's clearly not working with the other side of the house either

The 8 pack seem to have helped convince him that Victor should be the target this week, so Paulie is trying to backdoor him. He nominated Bronte and Paul, with the goal that one of them wins the POV, takes themselves down, and then Victor is put up as a replacement and voted out.

The roadkill winner is Victor, of course! This doesn't mean he's safe though, he could still be backdoored if Paul or Bronte are pulled off the block. It does mean that Victor gets to nominate someone. At this point I think it will be James, but there is also a possibility that it could be Nicole or Tiffany.

Spot's Meow, I'd like to say that I appreciate your using spoiler tags. Canadians aren't allowed to access CBS.com, and I have no idea what this "pop" thing is that's supposed to show the "After Dark" footage. I'm limited to what's on basic cable.

It's more fun to be surprised, in my opinion, though I'll read your spoilered comments after the episode(s) they refer to, or if I miss an episode.

It makes you wonder if the people who apply for Big Brother are so bad that they had to go recruit someone like Jozea.

It's a bro coalition basically. Narcissistic misogynists who belittle anything they don't jive with. It seems like only Jozea/Paul/Victor though, Paulie and Corey seem ok.
