Never knew multiple singers vied for the title of the 1981 James Bond film "For Your Eyes Only".

Debbie Harry's version would fit into any of the 1960s' or 1990s' Bond films with ease despite the obvious branding for FYEO. Really great vocals and it's Blondie in their early-80s best. But does it fit the movie's tone? Sadly, no. But IMHO it's still a phenomenal performance.

Even better: Cherie Currie's version. Hers feels closer to the tone of FYEO, but one can still tell how Sheena E won it. Still, Currie could sing the theme to Sesame Street and The Garbage Pail Kids... or even just repeat the word "laaaa" nonstop for 50 minutes on a CD and I'd be tuned in to one of the best vocal talents of all time... IMHO, of course. Shame she didn't vie for Octopussy or The Spy Who Loved Me.

My guilty pleasure--

(the trailer AND the movie. Logic gaffes (including Batgirl's variable accent) aside, the puns were often fun (only when they weren't bad) and I'm also a fan of the 60s TV show version.

There are usually multiple candidates pitching a theme song for each Bond movie, as far back as Johnny Cash's "Thunderball":

I'm a bit of an afficionado for these alternative Bond songs. Maybe I'll start a thread for them some time.

Very guilty.

Love this mare, Lady Eli. She's the boss of the turf right now. Of course, I bet my $ on the 2nd place horse, but what can you do? She tried... ;)

Who says a 3-horse race can't be exciting? (aside from Secretariat, that is...)

I don't understand how anyone who thought this was a good idea, wouldn't have received such harsh criticism to end up discouraging them. Were each of those helicopters piloted? Or remote controlled? In any case for powered aviation, vibration is an extremely important consideration. It seems that this was entirely neglected or dismissed. Given 4 helicopters generating vibrations, just don't see how that frame could support it. What a stupid idea. Maybe they got the helicopters cheaper than they'd have spent buying separate aircraft engines. Someone must've had a lot of spare cash to play around with a stupid idea like this that ultimately took the life of the pilot. IDIOTS.
