It was made available for download by Paramount, but has not to my knowledge been shown in theaters.

Which is interesting, as we discussed here earlier. That trailer is for the likes of us - how well would it play in a theatre with a non-Trek (as yet) audience? Which raises a question in my mind: how will the whole Old Spock part of the story appeal to noobs?

Just fine I think. I don't think most people will really care one way or another as long as it's as cool as the trailer looks. He'll just be another part of the story. I don't think they left him out because they were afraid to show him, but they had already made the first and that it was an afterthought to put him in later for more hardcore fans.

If we didn't see that before, parts of it at least seem familiar to me, including the subtitle sentences (I suspect it was reposted in part or in full on other sites.) To which observations did you refer?

I think he's inviting us to discover the observations not yet remarked upon here.

I'll guess it has to do with the "Verdict" of the reviewer for the screened scenes.

Verdict: In his introduction to the footage JJ claimed that he didn't know there had been ten previous Trek flicks when he agreed to take the gig, and he's not sure if he would have signed on for Star Trek 11. We're having none of it - only a true Trekkie could handle the material as expertly as JJ has; what we saw felt like both a detailed love letter to long-term fans and a first date for newbies. Star Trek is back. It's for everyone. And it's glorious.

I have downloaded that trailer (at startrekmovie.com) a bunch of times and have yet to see Leonard Nimoy. Can someone tell me where this is (either Leonard's appearance or the trailer with his appearance)?
