Official Star Trek Week 8 Box Office Thread

I think several of the movies that Trek competed with suffered and would have done better without Trek.

I don't like July as a month for movie releases.

It's the freaking middle of the summer. I want vacation, the beach, hotties in tiny bikinies...:p
Not some dark room filled with unwashed masses, Trek nerds and MTV-90210 teens. :alienblush:

A July release worked pretty well for the first Transformers and The Dark Knight, so I have no problem with a July release for the next Trek movie, if that's what happens.

July isn't that bad. Every year since 2003 (except 2005) has had at least one film making over $250 million, including five that made more than $300 million.

I know.
I was mostly kidding - expressing a totally personal, subjective preference.:)

Saw it for the fourth time Sunday @ 3:45. The room was full (perhaps because it's down to one screen at all the local theaters). There were a number of people who seemed to be first timers - also had the audible reaction to Nimoy's appearance. Great group - lots of laughs at the appropriate places. The whole Kirk/McCoy vaccine schtick is a real crowd pleaser. Applause at the end. I think it's safe to say that Trek's image in the public mind is more positive now than it has been in a long time.
