Official Left 4 Dead 2 Thread

I want this game, but I dont want it bad enough to spend 60 bucks for it. I will wait until I can pick it up for 20 bucks at Target or on the used rack at Gamestop.

Used won't work, as each game is tied to your steam account. However they will probably do a weekend deal and cut it down by 20% in a few months.

I'd say it has more value then the first one since it has more stuff to do both in single and multiplayer. I was going to argue that how the hell do you pay 60 bucks for it, but then I realized that maybe you're a console gamer for this one. Me I got as part of a package deal with some friends so I only payed 30 bucks, but I absolutely think full price would have been worth it.

Also I'm not sure if the game gets tied to the steam account if you play it on console, probably not.

$45 here. But then I pre-ordered it from Steam.

Only had time to play it once but damn. I usually play Advanced, ocassionally Expert on the original game. But man, my team got our asses handed to us on Normal. They've really ramped up the difficulty in addition to adding lots of sweet new features. Plus no more corner camping.

Two thumbs up.

$38 on Steam if you get 4 copies at once with friends who you should be playing with anyway!

I was out late last night but I am hoping to dive into the action tonight...!

Yeah no kidding! I always like to try and go trough the campaigns myself on normal first and then play them online with friends, but I'm stuck on the "Coaster" part of Dead Carnival. I just can't make it all the way trough that coaster alarm part!

AK-47, and use boomer bile if you can find it. Just about the only way to survive it.

I have been playing "Scavenge". This is truly a team-unifying exercise. I got so pissed at one guy for his lack of cooperation I dusted him off my Friends list. But it's a gas if your team plays correctly.

Yeah, Expert's kicking our asses now while we used to just breeze through it in L4D. Going to have to go back to the drawing board and work our way up I think.

Spent a few more hours playing through. And boy, it doesn't get any better. Its kinda embarassign that I have to go back to Normal level and basically relearn everything. SI's are bad enough. But most of the time its the endless swarms of commons that kick my ass.

Meanwhile there are assholes on the Steam forums compaining that the game is too easy. *Urge to kill*

The only "easy" I've seen is that there seem to be more accurate weapons than the original. The Combat Rifle and the AK, the Combat Sniper and the sawed-off shotgun all seem to hit easier. And the silenced machine gun? I can wail on the commons with it. But I was an Uzi freak in the original so that may just be my style.

My friends and I who were playing on hardest difficulty in Left 4 Dead had to drop down to normal as well in the sequel.

Still waiting on mine to be shipped from Amazon, getting kinda pissed since I pre-ordered it months ago.

I played the demo, but I didn't buy the game. It was fun enough, but there was little changed from the first game. I'll stick with TF2.

I'd second that.
Spent a fair bit of time playing the demo and while it's an improvement on most fronts, it still has the same major flaws as the original: it's too easy for one griefer to spoil the fun and the community is still vote-kick happy and tend toward item hogging. I've seen several players now with 85+ health and a full set of items let their team mates limp along in the red, then use their med-kit ion themselves and grab a new one before the others can catch up.
Not the fault of the developers, I know. It's just unfortunate and otherwise good game can be so easily let down by the people that play it.

TF2 on the other hand, while it certainly has no shortage of gits, the larger teams means it rarely effects the quality of the experience.

Unfortunately that sort of comes with the territory. I've taken to adding every really good player I encounter to my Friends list and only play with them.

I'm embarassed to say I actually played through the game with a team yesterday on EASY (hangs head in shame). Its about as difficult as Advanced was in the first game. God I suck. :(

Really though, if you only play the demo you're really missing out. Thats actually one of the duller parts of the game imo. Hard Rain, where you have to wend your way through a sugar factory thats crawling with Witches through a driving rainstorm, Swamp Fever, and of course Dark Carnival are all epic.

I started playing, but the game caused my videocard drivers to crash after less then 10 minutes, which is weird since I didn't have any problems with the demo. I don't mind, I'm still mainly playing Dragon Age and don't really have a lot of time for another PC game. I'll wait for a patch/newer drivers.

The full game is wicked cool, with lots of options in the game play that improve upon the original version. Better weapons, different strategies and VS is fun again.

I assume you've done all the usual? Drivers up to date, checked your cooling, reinstalled?

Have they introduced a practice mode for Vs? I was always terrible at playing as infected and when you get kicked for making a mistake it's very hard to learn what you're supposed do.
